Should ghost towns and war ruins be kept for future generations to see or should they be destroyed/mined?
Some WW2 and even ACW ruins still remain.
I personally think ghost towns and war ruins should be mined/destroyed for resources and space, since they are going to decay anyway and preserving them is hard, so what is the point?

Ruins of war could potentially be refurbished for human use, same with ghost towns. Tearing it all down and destroying them would be a waste, so the resources gained should be put to the best use possible.

Is Baudrillard still even vaguely popular with folk? I'm sure he would have had plenty to say on the matter...

As someone studying cultural heritage, I'm definitely for partial preservation. Is this really an issue though? In my country there are few or no places like that.

Definitely preserve some for cultural heritage and historical value. :) What country are you from if I may ask?

I'd rather if we were to save some ruins or ghost towns for cultural and/or historical value, we would place them in a museum of some sort.

Sounds a good idea, could also turn certain places into historical museums. Also could just let nature completely reclaim these places

Sweden. We got plenty of ruins of course, given the millenia of history, but very few decrepit buildings, abandoned townships, that sort of thing.

o well this is ok I guess

That's cool :) there is nothing like that here in New York, unless a 20 year old collapsed building and dozens of condemned buildings that would be perfectly fine and inhabitable, but the state is a horrible thing. Death to capitalism!

Agreed. They should be kept for historical purposes
