Would cuba be more succesfull if russia had built the light machine factory and steel factory che had sugested and had a few more industries ofn the side of sugar to make a more mixed economy as che sugested?

Yes, the more variety of things produced means that people are going to be less likely to have need for a black market.

I would imagine so, if ever demand fell for a cerain product, they would be able to adapt and survive comfertably as its is unlikely all the industries they have would under go the same drop in demand.
As they relly heavily on sugar, a poor sugar harvest, one would imagaine, will have severe and damaging consequences on the country

It would definatley have benefited from a wider range of exports.
The crisis at the fall of the union in 1991 would potentially have been less devastating.

Dependance on a small number of industries in an isolated situation will lead to an economic collapse not to mention the effects it would have on the morale of the people of that country and their faith in "revolution".

It is a pitty cuba didn't make more of it's pertrouleum industry and prouduce more crude and refined. I also think cuba could have had a bigger technology sector as sillicon and nickle are found on the island.
