Siege of Leningrad
The Siege of Leningrad is remembered as one of the longest and most destructive in human history, and and overwhelmingly the most costly in terms of casualties. While the Red Army (led by the Bolsheviks and utmost particularly Leon Trotsky) managed to overthrow the Tsar, and fend of hordes of Capitalist invaders, it was almost nothing in comparison to the wickedness imposed on them by the Axis nations (most notably being the Third Reich). Luckily, thanks to the bravery and might of the Red Army, and the skill of generals such as Markian Popov, they were able to come out on top. However, the counter-offense against the German forces did not begin until after the Battle of Stalingrad.

On a side note, I have a personal question for my fellow RevLefters.
Should the USSR had been supported while it was defending itself from Nazi Germany?
I personally think it was necessary and completely justified to defend themselves. Even though the USSR ended up becoming highly nationalistic and "bourgeois", what were they suppose to do? Just roll over and submit to the forces of fascism (Ultra-Capitalism)?
F**CK THAT
