This is ridiculous, I find Glenn Beck extremely annoying and this in no way proves capitalism works haha.

There are times I seriously suspect Glen Beck of being a left-leaning troll.

I mean, this "article" doesn't even present much of an argument: simply the two lists, and the statement that capitalism works. Of course, the two lists don't show anything of the sort, and, even from a relatively conservative point of view, one could draw quite the opposite conclusion. Children have abandoned books for Nerf Guns, and this is "progress"? Oranges for "Giggly Monkey"? Uh-huh.

I think it's quite funny as they're trying to present the first list as being basic necessities while the second as being luxuries without realising that things like rocking horses were pretty damn expensive luxury items. You're looking at upto £5 which in today's GBP would be upto £300. That's more expensive than the first 5 on 2013's list put together.

Glenn Beck is one of the greatest philosophers of our generation.

Said no fucking one ever. Ever.

I mean, I don’t care what you want to babble about your income inequality, the disparity, the gap between the rich and poor. The fact is our society is amazing. And even the poor here are not poor compared to what we used to be before capitalism fixed things.

Lolwut.

Yes, because those wanting to overthrow capitalism are feudalists wanting a regression in the application of technology :thumbup1:

Apparently those 2 guys are Pat and Stu. I am inferring that they just are apart of his radio-show and webisodes. i know neither of them are Glenn, but I thought it was worth sharing. I have never seen an episode of Glenn, but apparently he comes up with whacky, pseudo equations to prove his points lol. Everyone has the freedom to believe as they like, but his ideas I don't agree with lol

I don't believe Glen Beck believes half the things he says. I think he's just making a whole lot of money spewing the talking points of his bosses.

A former drunk turned Mormon now pushing for war against everybody that looks at Israel wrong and making millions upon millions of money doing it.

I love these "small government conservatives" that on one hand talk about liberty and with the other try to start wars on the other side of the planet every month

Yeah, doesn't really add up

at least it proves it more than this, this thread makes me think of the things I've learned in marketing. It's more justification for capitalism rather than proof.

If you ever hear of any openings for former Mormons turned stoners to spew the talking points of bosses, let me know and I'll cash in.

I had a kid in school once turn to me and say (completely seriously) that Glenn Beck is a genius.

I heard the smae thing in high school essentially :glare: The kids were wealthy libertarians and they were talking about his most recent book and how brilliant it was, I don't remember which book it was as it was a few years ago. Tenth grade, so... approximately five years ago

That'd make some sense. I kinda got into him for about a week when he had the rally in 2010 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Restoring_Honor_rally

I was trying to understand the right libertarian thing & he was just plain incoherent.

1. Glenn Beck on The Coming Insurrection (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZKyi2qNskJc).
2. Glenn Beck denounces Andrew Jackson and treatment of indigenous people in the US, talks about the collapse of American capitalism, and waves a copy of Prairie Fire around, here (http://video.foxnews.com/v/4406355/beck-coming-insurrection/).
