Hello all,

Have been a lurker for a few months, but finally made an account hah.

Am close to finishing up my undergrad college degree. I'm studying History so I can teach high school. I eventually seek to earn a PH.D and teach the big kids though. I'm located in a fairly uninteresting suburban area in the Chicago suburbs. When I'm not at home I go to school in an equally uninteresting suburban area. There is to my knowledge no leftist presence, though I am interested in starting a leftist reading group at my university in hopes to find some other like-minded folks. We'll see.

I appreciate all the work ya'll do here. The sincerity most of you articulate in your posts truly inspires me.

Welcome :)

If you have political questions, you can ask them in the Learning forum. That's why it's there after all!

If you have questions about your account, don't hesitate to send me a PM or ask here.

What are your political ideas, if any?

Welcome welcome Decimus. As you're a newcomer here, I just want to remind you that whenever getting into debates, always use facts and logic. I've done the research, if you want to call it that, and so far, it does seem as if us leftists do in fact have the facts on our side. Anyways, enjoy the forum, and enjoy getting into discussions.

I would also like to give a shout-out to libertarian socialism.

Thanks Q & Debater.

@Q: I am still new and am reading quite a lot, so I will not use labels to identify myself just yet. I have a strong feeling of anti-authoritarian policies, something which I see throughout most Soviet history which upsets me. I'm still learning though. We'll see where it takes me.

Mind you that many Marxists, myself included, think that there was nothing socialist about the USSR. Rather the opposite. The revolution knew a counterrevolution pretty early on in its life and this counterrevolutionary regime then dragged on for some decades. The far left in many ways still hasn't recovered from this experience.

But that's a debate for another moment :)
