View Full Version : Any Argentinians Here?

I recently watched a video of a concert of the commercial German punk band "Die Toten Hosen" in Buenos Aires. Die Toten Hosen, are kind of the Green Day or Offspring of Germany, every punk pretends to hate them, but in fact they brought many into punk music when they where young, and the music pretty much rocks when you are honest to yourself... :P
However, what was really amzing to see was how popular they seem to be in Argentina, I think it originates that they once played with the Ramones in Argentinia. The whole crowd was celebreting DTH like crazy. and although they sing 90% of all songs in German (!) the crowd (about 5.000) knew all lyrics! It was really cool to see...
Can any Argentinian here tell me more about that phenomenon?

Are they Marxist? I bought one of the back stage passes from their online store and it has Marx on it:

I've been a good fan of them for a few years. Sorry for straying off the orginal topic of conversation.

I'm not Argentinian but a friend recently gave me a burnt CD of an artist called Manu Chao, apparently he's from Argentina, lives in France now and is huge in Germany... weird. Anyway the album is called Clandestino, does anyone know it?

Manu Chao is actually French, of Spanish heritage. His music is amazing. If you liked that album, look into the stuff he put out with Mano Negra. Great latin/punk/rock/ska/pop.
