I keep a potted bio handy for just this sort of occasion:

I’m an urban hermit, a hiker, a rationalist, a skeptic, a freethinker, an empiricist, a materialist, a naturalist, a scientist, a bibliophile, an INTJ, a white hat hacker, a cypherpunk, a secular humanist, a cryonicist, a teetotaler, a social-liberal civil-libertarian monarchist, a furry fan, a playtester, a licensed amateur radio operator, an ordained minister of the First Church of Atheism, a member of the Lifeboat Foundation‘s Ethics Board, a card-carrying pirate, the Star Lord, a Lord of the Rose, and a proud member of the Bayesian Conspiracy. I try to operate by Crocker’s Rules.

Since it seems likely that someone will ask: I threw in the 'monarchist' mostly because here in Canada, the queen we have generally lives an ocean away and doesn't bother us; and those who seem most interested in getting rid of the institution seem to have a distinct interest in applying the political power of the replacement post they suggest against other Canadians; so, on the whole, having someone filling the position of monarch who doesn't do anything with it seems the least-bad of the currently feasible alternatives. All that, and it's occasionally fun to watch people try to figure out what the whole clause there could actually mean. :)

One of the main reasons I'm joining this board is that I have a pet SF setting I enjoy using to explore various ideas; and one idea I've mentioned but not explored in much detail is that a carefully unspecified 30-70 years from now is a near-worldwide 'Blue Revolution', which is eventually put down across the globe, for various setting-specific reasons. (Fortunately, there are people not living on the globe by that time...) I have some ideas about what that entailed - but I'd like to learn more about possibilities I wouldn't have previously thought of. (And if anyone would care to suggest which sub-forum(s) would be most appropriate for a discussion on a fictional future strain of revolutionary leftism, I'd appreciate the directions.)

Welcome :)

If you have political questions, you can ask them in the Learning forum. That's why it's there after all!

If you have questions about your account, don't hesitate to send me a PM or ask here.

Aww, I was hoping this was going to be a YABM parody account.

But welcome :)
