http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-25412344

Three men have been charged with terrorism offences including conspiracy to murder members of the security forces.

Two of the men have been charged over a gun attack on police vehicles in north Belfast earlier this month.

Police vehicles were hit with shots from an assault rifle on the Crumlin Road on the night of 5 December.

The three men, aged 46, 47 and 52, are to appear at Belfast Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.

The two younger men are charged with aiding and abetting the attempted murder of police on Crumlin Road on 5 December and aiding and abetting the possession of firearms with intent to endanger life on the same date.

All three are charged with conspiracy to murder members of the security forces, conspiracy to possess explosives with intent to endanger life, possession of firearms with intent to endanger life and membership of a proscribed organisation.

The men were arrested in Belfast and Lurgan on Sunday.

In the 5 December attack, two police vehicles were towing digital warning signs behind them when the convoy came under fire from the Herbert Street area.

Two of the vehicles and one of the signs was hit by the gunfire.

It is understood those behind the attack built a platform on Herbert Street, from where the shots were fired.

Colin Duffy to appear with two other men at Belfast magistrates court following their arrests on Sunday

Prominent Armagh republican Colin Duffy is one of three men facing charges including conspiracy to murder members of the security forces.

Two of the men have been charged over a gun attack on police vehicles in north Belfast earlier this month.

All three, aged 46, 47 and 52, will appear at Belfast magistrates court in relation to the offences.

The attack on police vehicles occurred during a loyalist protest against an ongoing ban on local Orangemen being allowed to march back up the Crumlin Road from 12 July.

Two police Land Rovers and one mobile police sign were struck with bullets during the attack.

Gunmen used a homemade raised platform as a firing point from the republican Ardoyne district at the police lines.

Political policing by the armed wing of the British establishment to silence anybody who dares to speak out against Stormont or the current "system" in the occupied six counties.

This is another case of internment by remand and an attempt to break the spirit of republicans. I just hope the lads keep their heads up and try to stay strong over the Christmas period.

I genuinely feel for the families of these men, especially Duffy's family as they have had to endure constant pain for the past 20 years.
