I love his music, fuck me Pink Floyd are spectacular.

I'd say that the treatment of the Palestinians by the Israelis is awful, absolutely awful; it's a complete human rights tragedy, a complete colonial occupation. I prefer comparing it to Apartheid to the Nazis, but there might be some trace similarities.

I saw The Wall this Summer. Waters is quite clearly deeply anti-Stalinist (if you will), anti-Fascist, anti-Corporate, anti-Capitalist, anti-Zionist, anti-Racist, and anti-Imperialist.

No. I used to like Pink Floyd and I still can enjoy Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here from time to time, but I think The Wall is a shit album and I haven't paid attention to Waters' solo music at all.

DSOTM and some other stuff from that period, like Umma Gumma, is great. I'm pro-Syd.

Can't stand The Wall but whatevs. But on the political question -- Great! Had a good discussion on it with a fellow cartoonist, who I was surprised was so pro-Palestinian, and then found out his grand parents were Jewish Holocaust survivors.

Love & respect to all those who struggle. An injury to one is an injury to all.

Roger Waters is a legend. I think that is the most accurate way to describe him. His music is intricate, layered art. My respect for him has only increased after seeing his political positions.

I like Dark Side of the Moon quite a bit. The Wall is more spotty, there's a few decent songs on it but it's pretty hit-or-miss. Plus it's a "concept album", and I almost universally hate concept albums.

All their other shit besides those two albums, as well as Roger Waters solo stuff, is pretty uninteresting IMO. My dad is a big fan of theirs so I've heard pretty much their entire discography.

The Wall is a visual experience, as much as auditory. It's no good without the live show.

I'm not sure if the visual experience can make up for the horrible auditory experience of that album (what is it, anyway? Dolls crushing a wall with bricks made out of foam rubber?).

I've always thought Pink Floyd was an overrated band, though I used to listen to them religiously when i was a kid so maybe that has something to do with it.

No disrespect but if you really study music through years, it's hard to understand just how much praise they get for generic albums and the lyrics that anyone else could have wrote. Dark Side of the Moon was on the charts for years, though there was so much better stuff around at the time (just my opinion). When I first listened to it, I didn't see what all the hype was about. I thought it would be something like Electric Ladyland or Abbey Road in terms of brilliance and I just didn't hear what everyone else hears in it.

The Wall is their peak with all that said. It's probably their best album indeed.


I'm sorry but the over long songs and Orwellian lyrics don't appeal to me anymore. Roger Watters is an OK guy. I'm sure he puts up a hell of a show if that's your thing.


On the other hand, the 70's is one of the best eras for music, so rock on. You could close your eyes and randomly pick something from '70-'77 and almost always find a great gem.
