Nazis attacked antifascists in south Stockholm!

Some 40-50 nazis from the organisation "Swedish Resistance Movement" today attacked a local demonstration in a suburb in south Stockholm against an increase in nazi propaganda and street presence. About 500 had gathered with many children and elderly local people taking part.

Then the nazis arrived but fortunately some activists from Revolutionary Front and AFA Stockholm was there and could beat the nazis back. 2 nazis stabbed and sent to hospital, 3 police to hospital after defending the nazis.

There is no "immigration problem" as far as I see it. The problem is that they have to move to different countries in the first place. On the other hand, there are economic problems everywhere. Based on the extremity they can cause immigration or cause the attacks against immigration.

A friend was injured in the attack. Many children were utterly terrified and had to flee, and Nazi-thrown fireworks went off in the crowd. Despicable.

One astounding member of the Nazis decided to do a Hitler salute and scream "Hell Seger" (loosely translated to Sieg Heil). He barely got his hand down before anti-fascists flew on him and rewarded him with a bloody snout.

Was going to go myself but was otherwise busy unfortunately, friend went, apparently it was pretty chaotic, seeing as the demonstration cosisted mostly of elderly and families with children. Some of them were forced to flee into a supermarket to avoid the rain of pyrotechnics. 20 or so militant anti-fascists from the Revolutionary Front and Anti-Fascist Action did not back away and instead served as welcoming party for the Nazis, who were quickly routed to the nearby forest.

I wasn't in town when this happened, and haven't been back since, did leafleting for the demo together with comrades though. It is indeed impressing how regular people took part in pushing the nazis back, that is exactly how it is supposed to be. Mass mobilisation of workers is the one and only solution to the fascism threat.

This incident has caused lots of controversy in the media afterwards, with heavy criticism towards both the police and the initial news reports which portrayed it as an 'anti-racist event degenerating into violence' and basically a mere confrontation between 'extremists from the left and the right' rather than what it was, nazis making a planned attack in cold blood complete with 'street weapons' on a peaceful demonstration full of regular people.

Fact is that the secret police had received information about an attack being planned against the demo, but somehow the information was 'lost in transmission' so that the local police only sent a handful of officers who were powerless against the platoon-strong nazi group. They have since been forced to apologise for what they call a 'human error'. :rolleyes:

Good thing is that this has sparked a kind of debate also in mainstream media about the nazi threat in a sense we haven't seen in a while, pointing out the irony of massive police mobilisations to protect small groups of fash, for instance when another nazi group was celebrating the anniversary of the Kristallnacht recently.

Hopefully this attention will help mobilise even more working people in the coming events that are being planned as a response.

Yes, the afterplay has been huge. And people that took part and who lives in Kärrtorp takes huge pride in the fact that they togheter fought the nazis back. It is hard for all these pacifists to play the non-violence card at the moment.

Now this Sunday there will be a new demonstration in Kärrtorp and already 13000 have said they will come on facebook. In 15 more cities there will also be demonstrations against fascism!

Many political leaders are playing opportunists and says they will be there, the leader of Swedens biggest party the Socialdemocrats, the leader of Left Party and the Greens, and even some ministers from the right wing liberal parties. The neofascist Swedendemocrats have declined because "it would be a threat to our security with Revolutionary Front and AFA being there" as the official reason....:grin:
They are trying to hijack the organisation that socialists have done in Kärrtorp and other suburbs.

Out of the 28 or so taken into police custody, 3 (including one leader) were arrested. Apparently the National Task Force (read: national-level special operations unit of the police) raided said leaders domicile.

I am saying it again, one comrade have been jailed in wait for trial, the charges is "attempted manslaughter", he risks 6-10 years in prison and was arrested 2 days before christmas. He pleads self-defence as it obviously was.

AFA Stockholm: 20 000 strong in Kärrtorp against fascism


Sunday December 22, AFA Stockholm attended a large and broad anti-fascist rally in the southern Stockholm suburb Kärrtorp. The rally was organized by the Network Line 17 as a response to the well known Nazi attack on Sunday December 15, when about 30 armed Nazis from The Swedish Resistance Movement (SMR) attacked an anti-rascist manifestation.
SMR attacked the anti-racist manifestation in Kärrtorp with the hope of being able to show a strong National Socialist organization to the public. They thought that the media attention would attract many new recruits. With hindsight, we can see that the campaign only became a failure. The Nazi attack failed, as antifascists from AFA Stockholm and Revolutionary Front acted quickly and engaged a counter-attack. Without the organized antifascistist self defense in Kärrtorp, it would undoubtedly have developed into a much more serious event. Armed with knives, sticks and bottles, the Nazis attacked a public demonstration of all sorts, including parents with their children. Many locals could have been seriously injured or worse without the antifascist protective wall aganst the Nazi aggressors. Along with other participants from the anti-racist manifestation, we managed to fight back the Nazis who fled into the woods. After the Nazi attack, a total of 28 members of the SMR were arrested. Two were released because they were minors and 26 remained in police custody on suspicion of rioting.

Swedish media has also exposed a comrade of ours who was arrested on probable suspicion of attempted manslaughter, an incident that took place when we were defending ourselves against the Nazis. Our comrade admits the actual circumstances but claims that he acted in self-defense. We, AFA Stockholm, thinks that our comrade acted admirably when he defended a peaceful demonstration against the violent Nazi attack. We strongly question the liberal opinion that repeatedly tries to tell us that we should stand passive and just watch as our comrades fall victim to the Nazi violence. We have had to put up with the media’s popular notion that we as anti-fascists are nothing but hooligans, criminal thugs and extremists. Anti-fascism is not a crime and is definitely not any kind of gang war as the media would have it appear, antifascism is political work. Antifascism is self-defense and that became clear to a broad public in Kärrtorp, Sunday December 15.

We, AFA Stockholm, are convinced that the ideological struggle against fascism also requires a physical complement on the streets. Although our activists always stand in the forefront when Nazis attack, many still refuse to acknowledge the importance of our work. We do not require that the entire political Left should love us, but it is indeed tiresome to always have to remind people about our role as a necessary protection or defense. The militant antifascism, combined with the equivalent ideological struggle is both crucial if we together as a movement are going to be able to pull the rug of organized fascism. We rely on past experience when we choose the appropriate methods and tactics of our anti-fascist work. We know that fascism never can be voted out. The fascist ideology is now becoming entrenched in the body of society and manifests itself not only in Parliament. In fact, the fascist movements has almost always won its political influence through street actions. Fascism is an anti-democratic movement that can not be stopped by laws and regulations, or by the same authority that, for example, hunt down and deport refugees. Against the class collaboration, nationalism and militarism promoted by the Fascist ideology, we place class struggle, internationalism and libertarian socialism. We are the antithesis of fascism!

During last Sunday’s protest in Kärrtorp, one week after the attack, 20,000 gathered to show moral courage against racism and Nazism. It was the largest demonstration against fascism in Sweden’s history. SMR’s attempts to establish a local cell in Kärrtorp have faced a major backlash. An active and growing anti-racist movement has sprouted and rooted itself locally. Residents in Kärrtorp have shown that resistance is indeed possible and necessary. We in AFA Stockholm will follow up the anti-fascist work in our suburbs and we will always be at hand to support those who continue to struggle every day to keep the streetscape free from racism and Nazism. Together we are strong!
