been politically active since 1977 (starting with the anti-apartheid struggle at the U. of Missouri) and continue to this day. My wife and I will be attending a protest later today in Hollywood, CA to protest a proposed ordinance banning feeding L.A.'s homeless in public. Encouraging sign that some 1500 people have indicated they will attend.
I've now been banned from DemocraticUnderground.com and from DailyKos.com for various thought crimes. When they ban you, they don't really tell you why although, in my case, I can easily guess that it was my declarations that I would no longer vote Democratic that did me in. I mean, though, really, what can you say about a party when a majority of its members vote for a budget that fails to extend benefits to the long-term unemployed, as was the case just this past Thursday. Only 33 Dems voted against that budget, which must mark an absolute low in Dem perfidy since, oh, the days of James Buchanan. (Forgot the Gulf of Tonkin resolution which was also a historical low point, although LBJ and his Junta lied their asses off to secure Dem support for Tonkin.)
I'm coming here to flesh out my understanding of Marxist theory and to share my ideas for how to move towards a more humane world than the one we currently inhabit. Even 150 years later, I feel Marx still has a lot to offer us (and one of my ambitions is to read Kapital in German before I die).
