Harrowing. Just utterly harrowing.

I know, the experience must have been awful for him.

That really doesn't seem like enough when you lose someone.

Edit: Also that seems like a really fucked up solution. If his only punishment is becoming poorer then he gets live like us (the non-murderers). That's completely unacceptable.

If he's 16 and already has a past filled with dui incidents and now 4 deaths, I'm going to take a wild guess that he's got a nasty future of substance abuse and severe depression ahead of him. So there's that I guess.

Yeah, this has been making the rounds around here (it's a local event). One thing quite odd to observe is to see how many of these people- who are generally conservative- act outraged about how wealth operates in the court system, especially in Texas. In a sense these guys with their conservative mess have focused the brunt of the legal system on the poor and minorities, and they have until now ignored the inequities in the system. In a sense they were the ones who empowered the system to act like this.

No therapy center can take away the memory of having taken the lives of four innocent people, especially for kids like these who are not psychopaths but just a product of ignorance and privilege. I am predicting an overdose before he is 25.

And if he never ends up realizing the significance of his actions then he will live an empty life absent of genuine human relationships.

Erm, that's kinda the only option they have left though, is the point, I think. I don't think psycho is endorsing it as a fair punishment.

Well, the only option the state is offering.

he also got away with rape

He said Couch got whatever he wanted. As an example, Miller said Couch's parents gave no punishment after police ticketed the then-15-year-old when he was found in a parked pickup with a passed out, undressed 14-year-old girl.
