For about 7 years now (starting in 7th grade) ive been a theoretical Marxist but ive contributed nothing to it's grander cause and I feel that joining a party will help me change that. As such ive been looking for a party that will best fit my ideals as a Marxist-Leninist-Trotskyist with alot of love for Tito and Castro. Here's what ive considered

1. Socialist Alternative-Party im most affiliated with thanks to my meeting Ty Moore and general shmoozing with them in Madison. Great people with a real interest in Trotskyism, but I feel like they sipped a teensy bit too much of the liberal kool aid.

2. Socialist Action-Dont know alot about these guys, sound cool

3. Socialist Workers Party- Really admire the SWP's history and admire their love for Cuba. Still, it doesent seem like they are as active as they used to be

4. Workers World Party- I have a ton of respect for these guys and love all theyve dont for GLBT liberation and their work with opressed communities in the US. I am uncomfortable with the parties solidarity with brutal third world regimes

5 Party for Socialism and Liberation-Pretty much the same attitude as the WWP
6. Revolutionary Communist Party: Trolololol

Why, it doesn't matter, pick any old cult you like! Or don't. It doesn't make a difference either way.

Well there is also the International Socialist Organization, I don't know enough about them to give you that many details unfortunately, but I know some ISOers I can point in your direction. They follow the tradition of Tony Cliff from what I know but I believe they diverge from the line of the British SWP on the issue of internal organization.

And obviously I can offer a critique of all of those groups above but I'd imagine it'd be more helpful to allow you to explore these options before I go on with me nonsense

The ISO troubles me in alot of ways, they seem rather liberal in their affectations and they like to criticize the Cuban Revolution.

Thats lame

Don't join a hierarchical party or you'll only be expected to do the grunt work and fund the thinkers (sometimes full-timers) barring a few branch discussions about politics and if you're lucky a few conference resolutions that the leadership can tolerate.
I suspect this will be your lot with any Leninist-Trotskyist-Titoist or Castroist group.
Don't join a cult either, you'll regret it.
