RNU, Day of activity undeterred by reprisal raids and arrest of comrades.

Republican Network for Unity this morning set out to conduct a range of political and community actions, raising awareness of; British dirty tricks in West Belfast, Tory/Stormont cutbacks in Education as well as a ‘community clean up’ following requests from residents in Ardoyne.
Activists from RNU Student & youth sections were playing a full part in today’s occupation of the University of Ulster’ Coleraine campus building. Our activists took part to give support for the wider student movement who are opposing the sweeping attempts to privatise student centered services and sell off student loans.
The student society this morning also took the first stages of legal action to launch a judicial review against the decision to sell off student loans, a decision which will allow private loan firms to raise interest levels well above those agreed when the loans were originally taken out.
Simultaneously in the Beechmount area of West Belfast, activists from the Nora Connolly Cumann were out distributing leaflets to local residents questioning the logic and source of yet another ‘hoax bomb’ which last week led to at least a hundred families being evacuated from their homes and saw the return of the British Army onto the streets of Belfast for the second time in a week.

Again pointing out that hoax bombs and community disruption are a tactic of British military intelligence and the PSNI, our leaflets asked local residents not to fall for these attempts at creating bad feeling within the community.
Earlier in Ardoyne and in response to requests from local people, members of the Bobby Sands Cumann held a ‘clean up’ in association with workers from Belfast City Council.
However barely 50 yards from where the positive community action was taking place, the forces of British Intelligence and the PSNI were continuing with their wave of reprisal raids which they have been waging against Ardoyne for over two weeks now. Six homes were subjected to raids this morning and at least one Comrade from the Bobby Sands Cumann arrested.
We understand that he is currently in Antrim Serious Crime Suite.
RNU take this opportunity to say to the British State Forces, their apologists and minions in the Pro-Stormont parliament, that our activists will continue to pursue the campaign for a Revolutionary Republican alternative, begining with acts of solidarity with the working class people of Ireland, regardless of your best/worst efforts; be they in Beechmount, Ardoyne or within our education system.
Do your worst!
