After weeks of leading in the polls, it appears as though presidential hopefull Howard Dean is alot more vulnerable than anyone around here first thought. I don't think we can make an accurate assessment of where the race is going, as retired general Wes Clark skipped the Iowa Caucuses and went straight to New Hampshire. It may very well happen that a much wider race may result. Senator John Kerry took the majority of the vote in Iowa today, walking away with 17 delegates. It is entirely possible that Clark may take New Hampshire due to the length of time he has spent campaigning there. After that, the canditates will rush off to South Carolina where John Edwards may very well win due to the fact that it's his home state. In other words, it's anybody's guess what will happen. I found all the specifics on CNN's website (http://www.cnn.com/). What does everybody else think?

yeah, i can't fucking believe THAT happened. who would have thought? no one. kerry gets twice the amount of votes that dean got. incredible. did you see dean right before the caucus though? he roars out after being introduced by senator harkin, practically rips off his jacket and forces it on harkin that violently snatches the mic from harkins hands. Harkin looked like he was going to shit all over himself. then dean starts some fucked up yelling routine and says their going to kick bush back to texas. what a strange night. and iowa dissapears into the time-fog for another four years....

It's kind of disappointing that the guy who was perceived as being this "left-wing radical" was abandoned by some of his supporters in the name of "electability. One thing to keep in mind, George H. W. Bush (the father) came in third in Iowa in 1988 and even lost to Pat Robertson of all people and he still ended up winning overall.
This is definitely an interesting race. Politics is a good sport :D

Here's an article that outlines some platforms and sheds some light on what and who they really stand for. A pathetic bunch really.

Should this bunch get your vote?

Howard Dean
"I think it's pathetic that I'm considered the left-wing liberal. It shows just how far to the right this country has lurched."
--Washington Post, July 6, 2003
EVEN WITH the Democratic Party establishment nipping at his heels, the supposed "insurgent" Howard Dean looks to be holding onto his position as frontrunner for the party nomination. He has gotten the attention of liberal voters who appreciate his anti-Bush rhetoric as an alternative to the status quo that the party has to offer.
The likes of Joe Lieberman and John Kerry have lashed out at the former Vermont governor for being "too far left of mainstream." But Dean is far from that.

Well, being Dean's base is in New England, I would wait and see for what happens then.

Who thought of that fucked up system?
You mean to tell me you don't know? A bunch of white, male, rich, slave owners that didn't want to pay taxes, that's who.
Well, being Dean's base is in New England, I would wait and see for what happens then.
I guess we'll have to see. Dean has been shooting himself in the foot on almost a daily basis lately. Besides, Clark completely conceded Iowa. He is, at this point, nearly even with Dean in New Hampshire as far as the polls are concerned. I'm afraid that this primary race is doing to the Democrats what Pat Buchanan did to the Republicans in 1992. I hope that that an embittered primary won't play all sides against the middle of the Democrats like it did the Republicans then (Buchanan created a house divided with a little help from Perot). Although I don't have much faith in the Democratic Party, I do believe that a President Cinder Block would be better than King George II.

Matthew Rothschild, of The Progressive magazine, wrote an interesting editorial about Dean and the Iowa Caucus. He suggests that Dean's bid to win the Dems' primary is over, that Iowa will only be the first of several defeats. He believes that Dean's campaign and personality are odious, and the more he is seen and heard by voters the further he will fall.
See for yourself, if you like (http://www.progressive.org/webex04/wx012004.html)

Dean's only downfall was that he actually spoke the truth. He says the United States is no safer today now that Saddam is in prison and the media rips him a new one. Dean says Bush may have known about 9-11 before hand and the media rips him a new one. Dean says he believes we can't pronounce bin Laden guilty until a FAIR trial and the media rips him a new one for it. On the other hand you've got President Bush that LIES about going to war with Iraq, kills over 500 US troops and massacres 10,000+ Iraqis and they don't say a word. You've got President Bush whoring out the White House to corporations - giving them tax-cuts, while taking money away from the poor and they don't say a word.
The moral of the story is clear; NEVER tell the truth - always buff your image up or the media and voters will eat ya' alive. They respect liars. They respect Bush for lying about the war in Iraq; they respected Clinton for lying about a BJ; they respected Reagan for lying about every DAMN thing; they respected Nixon about lying over Watergate. Now they'll respect a liar like John Kerry and John Edwards.
Isn't America great?

on another note, who are the third party candidates running this election?
