What do you think of them, what they accomplished, what they tried to accomplish, and the means by which they tried?

It's just an odd group if you ask me. Trying to murder Marcus Foster and Robert Blackburn made no sense, both were advancing the civil rights movement in little ways where it possibly mattered the most, in the schools. And call me crazy, but, you're not going to win to many shoot outs with police no matter how many newspaper grand daughters you kidnapp. Their goals (http://www.claykeck.com/patty/docs/slagoals.htm) were on the right track but how they expected to gain support by their actions I have no idea.

Not to mention their 7 principles (http://www.claykeck.com/patty/docs/cobra.htm) are the same as Kwanzaa, a bogus holiday started by FBI doupe Ron Karenga.

Wow. This is an old topic, what made you bring it up?

But, I agree, they were adventurists with no chance of suceeding, and I think deep down they knew it all along.

There was a documentary made by a guy called Robert Stone on BBC2 last night, although it was mainly about Patty Hearst. To me, they seemed to be confused.

I watched it and thought it was pretty good.

To me, they seemed to be confused.

To me they seemed like they were bordering on the insane.

In the manifesto "Symbionese Liberation Army Declaration of Revolutionary War & the Symbionese Program" DeFreeze explained that "the name 'symbionese' is taken from the word symbiosis and we define its meaning as a body of dissimilar bodies and organisms living in deep and loving harmony and partnership in the best interest of all within the body"; apparently the founders of the SLA had different human races in mind when coining the term. Although the SLA considered themselves leaders of the Black revolution, DeFreeze was the only Black member.

Petty criminals subject to the same bizarre perversion of rhetoric that many self-professed "revolutionaries" are prone to. They certainly weren't marxists, and they accomplished absolutely nothing aside from a media frenzy. The political motivations behind their actions were dubious at best and they only thing it symbolized was how attacks on a police officer here, and a superintendent there, were indicative of the sheer idiocy of their own organization.

If you want to look at a 70s radical group that is worth looking into, check out the WUO.

Plus the SLA logo is the most [email protected] ugly logo i have ever seen :(

I liked their slogan,

DEATH TO THE FASCIST ENEMY THAT PREYS UPON THE LIFE OF THE PEOPLE.

:D

Apart from that though, they were stupid kids with no link to the working class whatsoever.
