I also thought it was good. Why did you like it?

It was interesting for me to see how much Moore's talents in filming, editing, and being a pain in the ass have grown between Roger and Me and Bowling For Columbine. I thought BFC was better personally, but I loved RaM too.

The first thing I think about when I remember RaM is a comment Moore made years later (in an interview or a book, I cannot remember which). He has several minutes in his film talking to a woman who raises and butchers rabbits for meat. He filmed her clubbing and skinning one of her rabbits. He has received complaints for that scene, and was told that was probably the main reason his film was rated R.

Moore finds this odd, since his film also has footage of an African-American man being shot to death. This footage has never been complained about. He finds it odd and sad that a society is so de-sensitized to violence against People of Color that he receives more complaints about a rabbit being killed.

My girlfriend has seen it, and she told me I'd LOVE it. I've desperately looked for it:S

Not too many on this board like Michael Moore for some reason or another though, just a heads up, dude.

he basically said something along the lines of " we live in fictitious times, with a fictitious president leading us to a fictitious war, shame on you Mr. Bush shame on you" not an exact quote.

OK, but thanks anyway.
I really had no idea about what he said so that was helpful

Moore's Oscar speech in its entirety:

On behalf of our producers Kathleen Glynn and Michael Donovan from Canada, I'd like to thank the Academy for this. I have invited my fellow documentary nominees on the stage with us, and we would like to - they're here in solidarity with me because we like nonfiction. We like nonfiction and we live in fictitious times. We live in the time where we have fictitious election results that elects a fictitious president. We live in a time where we have a man sending us to war for fictitious reasons. Whether it's the fiction of duct tape or fiction of orange alerts we are against this war, Mr. Bush. Shame on you, Mr. Bush, shame on you. And any time you got the Pope and the Dixie Chicks against you, your time is up. Thank you very much.

Mixed. Has anybody here seen The Big One? I personally thought it was better than Roger and Me.

Roger and Me is a very good movie, and yeah, I'd definitely recommend anyone to go out and watch the dvd or vhs...

However, after seeing Moore's attachment to a political figure, and a demonic one at that, in Wes Clark, it makes me re-think if Moore's really against these big-time right-winged CEOs, or if he's just part of the problem.

Attaching yourself to any politician is attaching yourself to a person who can cover up the shit they dont want people to know. Clinton's done it, Clark's known for ordering executions in the Balkans, etc...

Moore's part of the problem if he's supporting Clark. I totally dont get why he'd do that. Was he ever part of the solution? Who knows...

Roger and Me is a good movie nonetheless. Watch it whenever you can.

I agree, when I saw that Moore had aligned himself with Wesley Clark I was very dissapointed. I dont know if he's always been a basic democrat or if his hatred of Bush has caused him to go insane and support a democrat. I think now he just part of the problem and has always been working on behalf of the Democratic Party. I noticed in Dude, Wheres My Country? he seemed to be a Clinton apologist. Then he finished the book with endorsing Oprah for president. I thought wow this guy has no politicle ideas at all or anything constructive to say hes just made a carreer attacking right-wingers.

No doubt, Adam, Moore's shit is good. Watching the Awful Truth (now on DVD!) really opens ur eyes up at the real issues...

But like I said, Moore aligned himself with Clark, and very proudly. Honestly, its a slap in the face to everything he's ever made. Why criticize america so much, yet align urself with a horrible political figure?

He's got some 'splainin to do. lol.

Now that I think about it, I think Michael gets an intellectual (maybe physical too  ) hardon about the thought of watching a general give a deserter hell in a debate.

But yes, He does have ALOT of explaining to do.

Moore has said as much on his mailing list, in his endorsement of Clark.

His fantasy is to see Bush, Texas Air National Guard deserter, who is our "great protector", get into a formal presidential debate with... (deep breath, epic pause) the retired former four-star general and supreme commander of NATO. It sounds like a mismatch, to say the least.

Damn, that documentary was so depressing because it reminded me where I live. Those scenes!!!!! Terrible, terrible! Kids hanging around waiting to donate blood so they will get a few bucks, a poor lady killing rabbits and then skinning them--- ughhh! Then the sheriff or whoever he was making his rounds kicking people off their apartments because they are behind in their rent. So fucking depressing.
