Cutting grants for the poor. As a student from a poor background, I can attest to how difficult it is to get by without being able to rely on help from family. I had a job for the uni (which, funnily enough, was raising funds for poor students..) which was well paid and I still struggled with sky-high rents and textbooks, as well as transport back home, before you even get to living costs.

I know I shouldn't be surprised, and i'm not, but they're just such assholes. It's so fucking unfair. Education is the one thing that maybe, sometimes, under the right conditions, makes one's life a little bit more bearable and offers a potential way out - through economic mobility or political realisation - of our dead-end society. And the fuckers won't let us even have that now.

I became a university student only in September this year. I haven't actually ever heard of this grant before anyway. I know Student finance gave me a grant which I don't have to pay back and a additional loan which I do have to pay back but I think this may be different??

Either way, I'm also not suprised and I think once it's gone it won't come back. This is a permanent austerity as Cameron said and I can see it getting increasingly hard for working class youngsters to make something off themselves and it's hard enough already!!!
