What defines a pre-revolutionary situation?

Potentially any time that class antagonisms exist and the contradictions inherent to capitalism become apparent to the working class. It's an interesting question because capitalism as a system is predicated on creating a situation where at any moment crises can hit and social upheaval occur as a result. Whether that becomes revolution or not is what we must determine.

To the OP: Any period characterized by one or more features of the above and the following being missing: presence of a class-based mass political party (party-movement), majority support from the class for this organization, and breakdown of internal confidence in the state apparatus.
