Police also found Golden Dawn and junta material in his home
Major (51) was commander of the 32nd mechanised infantry brigade in Volos – one of the most important units in the country's special forces

I don't think putting people in prison for a political allegiance is going to solve things. Look at Hitler, he came back more powerful. And he wrote a shitty book too.

Amen,
We need strong education programs at the state level to help our children grow up with facts and a shared sense of community and empathy.
And I hate the state ;)

It's not going to solve things but I'd rather an army commander fascist be in prison then commanding a special forces unit which is apparently an important spot. Plus he wasn't arrested, just suspended so far from his position.

Dealing with extremist is tough. But to fight extremism with extremism is counter-productive. If we fight far-right groups, it should only be in acts of defense.

And ultimately, extremely dangerous - as we saw with the massacre of the peaceful reformist regime of Salvador Allende. Socialists need to realize that every kidnapping, assassination, beating, assault - verbal or physical, and confinement of class enemies is always self-defence. At least that way they'll get to have their liberal pacifism without the impotence.

Dudes he's not even going to jail (unless he fails to meet the conditions of his suspended sentence). The Liberal elite are getting scared of Golden Dawn because they're too powerful on their own to be a good dog.

Personally I'm not going to advocate asscappopping on a public forum though..

Good to know that these people are in some of the highest ranking military positions in the country. Oh wait, not it it's not.

But that's not what he was arrested for.
He was arrested because he possessed illegal weapons. Convicting him of an offence like that is not at all like convicting him for his political views. He has noxious politics, but even if he had amazing politics or was completely apolitical, he could have been convicted for this crime.
It could be the prosecution is politically motivated, I have no idea if it was. But possessing illegal weapons particularly firearms is a serious crime in many parts of the world and this guy just happened to get caught.

Jesus christ. A suspended sentence?
This is a highly trained commando with a stash of illegal guns, and copies of Mein Kampf, and they gave him a fucking suspended sentence?
For a point of comparison, I know an anarchist who received a suspended sentence for having a marble in his pocket.
