I don't really get what's news worthy about this. I have friends who have done this multiple times.

It is funny though.

I thought Oldham and Manchester were different cities. Welp...

They are, but Oldham is part of the Greater Manchester conurbation. Oldham's really a sattelite town about 10km north-east of Manchester.

mwah, he paid for the plane ticket himself, thats impulsive but nothing special, now if he would have crawled into a truck or something or the luggage compartment of a plane and woken up in paris i would call it newsworthy but now...
one of my mums special needs primary school kids had a habit of doing a runner and taking public transport, luckily most busdrivers knew him and would take a detour to hand him back over at the school but one day he manged to get to to the train station and made it to the dutch-belgium border on the highspeed train to paris.... the kid was 9 or something with the mental age of an 5 year old... now thats impressive.

That's the last stop on the Picadilly line. Hardly impressive. I've almost done that once or twice.

In the book "going to extremes", the author asks some guy how he ended up in Fairbanks, Alaska. The guy said that he was originally from California, and he and his buddies, after a night of binge-drinking during the 1950s, decided to drive to the airport and take the next plane, no matter where the plane was going. The next plane that night was going to Fairbanks, so they went. When all his buddies sobered up and realized what a hell hole Fairbanks is, they immediately went back to California, but that one guy kind of like it and decided to settle down in the city.

I always thought that was a kind of strange story.
