Welcome :)

If you have political questions, you can ask them in the Learning forum. That's why it's there after all!

If you have questions about your account, don't hesitate to send me a PM or ask here.

What's the German left like?

No, I'm not a practising leftist, but supporting left ideas. The politically organized German left is very progressive. Due to the communistic past they always have to dissociate from it. That's why they have very advanced and liberal perception of society. It is strongly dominated by one person (Gregor Gysi) which makes it very unclear how they will be organized in future. Besides politics the left are as you maybe know very active in demonstrations and so on, not as much as in France, but in a sensible way.

Hi,

From what part of Germany are you from, if I may ask?

Do you align yourself with any movement?

What do you think of die Linke?

Hello,

I'm from the Harz, Wernigerode, but lived for a long time in Mainz. I think Die Linke, as I already mentioned, has very progressive ideas, but it is complicated to judge. On the one hand it has old GDR communists and it isn't well stablished in West Germany so that some strange people candidate for them. It seems kinda so diverse as the SPD, you don't know what happens if Gregor Gysi isn't there, which direction it will take. I appreciate their denial of the NATO membership and their liberal course in case of human rights and surveillance, but on the other hand they have to make compromises for a future government participation. It is the party which corresponds most to my ideas.

Being new in a forum and being ignored, that's pretty hard.

It's just an introduction thread, and they don't get that much attention. Besides it's only been up for two days. Be patient. I see that you haven't posted in any other threads than this. If you do, you will get more attention.

Anyway, welcome.

Your first 10 posts have to be approved by a moderator before they appear, so if you check back now they should have appeared :)

In any case, welcome to Revleft.
