A housemate at Uni recently introduced me to a cartoon entitled "Invader Zim"; it is the most wonderful series ever... Unfortunately it was cancelled after the second series, (I think) but MAN is it good!
Slapstick-silly-humour combined with a few acute political observations and with subtle 'dark' undertones... Utterly brilliant.
Anyone else seen it?

I LOVEDED YOU PIGGY! lol yeah, its great. You can download alla little Girs quotes on Kazaa. Cartoons are great since they do a good job of taking you away fromall of lifes struggles. I got talked into watching Winnie the Pooh with my 3 yr old cousin. I seemed shocked, and utterly fascinated, The whole 30 minutes i watched it, I completely forgot about everything and just watched. Also walked away feeling depressed, since everything is perfect in their little world and ours is so fuckd up. Oh and Rockos Modern Life kicked ass

yeah, Zim is a pretty cool cartoon. the amount of screaming in that show is crazy
I don't know about them cancelling it after the second season, I think it was later than that, there are a lot of episodes
mainly though I watch anime, since I don't have a tv, and don't want one, I'm pretty much limited to watching whatever I can download

Haha, kickass man, i'm not the only one!!
My favourite Grrrr (I always imagined it was spelt like this for some reason..) quote?
"Why, is his head so big?"
You've gotta love it!! Damn Uni Firewall means I can't get onto Kazaa; bit of a bummer...

My all time favorite cartoon used to be Rugrats! ha, that show was tight!but I grew out of that. I remember all the other cartoons used to suck and this was the only one I liked. oh looney toons were good too but it got boring fast. Speedy Gonzalez was the bombay! The only cartoons I like today are the simpsons and king of the hill. But I don't watch much tv so yeah :)

(fantasy scenario)
Zim: Gir! Self-destruct!
Gir: Finally! (Self-destructs)
CotR,
Why would you consider Zim a political commentary?

Indeed! A wonderful "cartoon", but a little too dark for me!! Doom and gloom with few gags to lighten the mood!
CotR,
Why would you consider Zim a political commentary?
There are loads of subtle references... The teachers predictions of doom and gloom, (the house of cards representing society) the way the school can't afford anything, the anti fast-food imagery, anti-modern-society commentary, (hypnotising adverts etc.) the whole concept of people not realising an "invasion"... Maybe i'm looking too far into things, but certain bits of it seem wonderfully relevant!

I really liked ''Ninja Turtles ''as a kid .I used to walk around with a purple ninja headband(like my hero Donatello) and everyone thought i was nuts.I always loved Donald Duck as well ,because he kind of reminds me of myself;unlucky, broke and pissed-off 24/7...but good-hearted though....

I really love Ren and Stimpy and Cow and Chicken...whenever I watch these shows and I am eating something, the said food always comes out of my nose and catapults and hits the nearest object or person at sight (because of laughing too much)
I also like The Angry Beavers, Rocko's Modern Life, Sponge Bob and practically every cartoon on Nickelodeon
Has anyone heard of Akazukin Cha Cha??? It's a japanese cartoon which is also funny like hell

You have pretty good taste, ta... except for probably Ren and Stimpy. That show was just too weird for me. I find Invader Zim and Freakazoid! interesting, too, but those other four you name are definitely the best.
I also like Internet animations...
Weebl and Bob and Don Hertzfeld's stuff--"Rejected" is a must-have, including such lines as...
"I live in a giant bucket!"
"My anus is bleeding"
"Tuesday's coming... did you bring your coat?"
