I've never gotten past the first couple albums, but noticed a trend towards a heavier sound once they got rid of the guy who went on to form the weakerthans. Always liked them though. The user 'Jesus Saves Gretsky Scores' is a big propaghandi fan.

Nah, I just searched it up though. Really, really impressive stuff. You don't see that shit everyday.

There's a surreal aspect to it, don't you think? Alien almost. Of course you can't comprehend it, but it's beautiful just for its own sake. Kind of this hazy, amazing, other-worldness

Monkman is amazing. I heard about him round 2005 and have seen shows of his a few places in the Tdot. Really nice show at the MOCCA with the landscapes and a teepee with projections of an early teens silent cowboy&indian type thing. effin great

I know you're not from Canada, and wouldn't understand it, but saying somebody is a Leafs fan is pretty serious business.

Anyway, given Propagandhi's massive influence (in Canada), I figured starting a thread about Failed States would be sufficient to kick off discussion.


Maybe I should Propagandhi another chance. Was just annoyed by them -- and more their local pals that I lived with -- than their music.

It's definitely their most metal album by a pretty wide margin, taking a step back from some of the overt hooks on Supporting Cast(e), in favour of more subtly, and intricacy.

Also, as far as I know, it's the first cover artwork by a band member. Who knew Todd the Rod could paint? Not me.
