So, I started applying for jobs lately...

Applied at Starbucks and McDonalds. No response yet.

Tried to at Wendy's, I don't meet their minimum requirements.

Tried to apply for a job at Jack in the Box, but you have to apply in person.

The saga will continue today. I will post once a day in solidarity with myself until I get a job.

Then I will post once a day in solidarity with myself in hatred of my job.

Yyyyyaaaaayyyyyy work.

Try to apply in person and call back. Helps you stand out from the unwashed masses who are also jockeying for position.

Yeah. I find the app questions funny sometimes though. I just hope to get one job so I can pay for a car.

My first job ever was at a Wendy's when I was 16 or 17. Shit was brutal.
Not as bad as KFC, I don't think, but I was also drunk when I worked at KFC.

This is going to be brutal, I can already tell. I hope that maybe I can get a job doing something else, like sweeping at a machine shop, but I doubt it.

Hit up the telemarketing/call centre places in your area. They're always hiring and you get to sit around and do essentially nothing.

You've never worked in a call centre, have you?

Actually I have, and talking on a headset about stupid boring shit came naturally.

Hahahaha, I could use my calling time to spread communism!

"Hello, can I talk to _______?"
"Um, sure..."
"Hello, would you be interested in freedom and whatnot?"

until the hand tremors and the migraines and the disorientation start from so much computer usage.

until you end up working in a place where toilet breaks are limited so you're sitting there in discomfort all afternoon.

until you end up working in a place that is target-driven and you end up losing your rag with 80 year old ladies who don't know what day it is simply to hit your target.

I dunno what call centres you've worked in, but in my experience shit's brutal. Seriously brutal.

If the economy has bounced back in your area apply at temp agencies. They are a way to see what is out there and get your foot in the door. Fast food is a dead end.

Even when I am not at work, I'm usually sitting behind a computer device of some kind or on the phone anyways.

I've experienced this and is tres lame however I would still rather do that than some food, cleaning or most retail.

I don't lose to anyone, anywhere?

That's cute, try door-to-door.

i've heard door-to-door is even worse. You're right that call centres are at least sitting down, and I dunno about the US, but here they pay quite well.

My best job was a 'call centre', though it was at uni, I got promoted to supervisor, and it was with cool people and was only like 12-13 of us on shift, and we weren't cold calling, we were talking to our alumni about the uni and trying to get them to donate to the uni. Got paid like £10 per hour for that shizz, and there was loads of free food and we were a proper tight team.

Other call centre jobs got like £7-9 per hour, which made being treated like a piece of shit bearable I guess.

I've heard people quitting door to door after a day because it was such a horrible job.

The first one is pretty much the majority of the centres I've actually worked for. I did a lot of donation collecting for charities that people had already donated too, like Special Olympics, Homeless Veterans, Pig Lodges, etc. and made starting off like 10 bucks an hour which was pretty alright at the time.

I've done it for years and I will say there is almost like a 90-95% turnover rate, like it was crazy. It's a very, very mentally taxing job, it sucks the soul out of you, really.

door to door is awful, never again. then again, nobody has ever given me a home cooked meal or smoked me up at the call center.

Reminds me of the Dave Chappelle joke. I forgot which special it was on though, but I found a meme.

I've done door to door sales, regular retail, food industry, janitorial work and call center work. Of those, if I were forced to return to one it would definitely be the call center. Obviously it sucks, all work sucks, but if you think thats worse than door to door sales or cleaning up poop I got news for you :)

I've only worked bars at big racecourses and busy nightclubs and whilst I imagine that some people might enjoy it (amoral extroverts with an infinite tolerance for being sticky) I have hated every job I've had. On the upside, bar work is incredibly easy to get since most bars have high staff turnover rates (at least around where I live.) Just don't hold out for a fun ride.
