Hi, I'm a 22 year old student from England (studying in the Netherlands). I study something called Arts & Culture, which is essentially sociology/politics/philosophy/technology. I major in politics though. I would describe myself as a socialist, and I have voted Socialist Labour in elections in England.
Erm... yeah not much else really. Oh, we had a lecture on the differences on capitalism and socialism which I found really interesting but I can't seem to find my notes!

Welcome :)
If you have political questions, you can ask them in the Learning forum. That's why it's there after all!
If you have questions about your account, don't hesitate to send me a PM or ask here.
Where are you residing in the Netherlands? There are quite a few Dutch people around (myself included) :)

I'm a big fan of Cultural Studies (which probably begins at many common points w/ "Arts & Culture"?) - I'm stoked to have some more back-up when I'm accused of "post-modern obfuscation" on the board.
Welcome!

Unfortunately, my course is populated with those types of people who think they are some sort of culturally aware political protester-cum-social activist. They are not really politically aware, they just like to look like they do and then post it on their blog along with their tattoos and instagram pictures.
If I knew what "post-modern obfuscation" was, I would happily back you up!

funnily emnough, I had a lecturer last year for a Maritime History module who insisted on using nautical terminology for everything. He called us his crew, divided our seminar groups into prize crew, bosun's crew and the forlorn and insisted we call out "aye captain" when he did the register muster roll.
