How Transgender Policy Sets Off 'Gender Panic' (http://www.futurity.org/transgender-news-can-spark-gender-panic/)

Like the terms moral panic and sex panic, Schilt describes gender panic as a deep, cultural fear, set off in this case when the naturalness of a male-female gender binary is challenged. When such challenges affect public policy, Schilt says, thats when the panic starts to get really hot.

I love how the word 'natural' gets thrown around when people try and defend their close minded opinions about gender and same-sex relationships. It's an absolute hypocrisy. If you don't think it's 'right' because it's not 'natural' then you better quit giving and receiving oral sex because that's definitely not what nature intended you to do with your mouth. You should probably be opposed to all life support measures as well because 'God' knows that isn't natural. There are a multitude of other examples in modern society which could easily be classified as 'unnatural' but these people don't mind them because usually they are benefited from them in someway. It's bigotry, culture or not.

Actually oral sex, sword fights, butt rubs, angry sex, scissoring, anal sex and a variety of other sexual encounters have been observed in other primate species, so a lot of stuff in that regard is totally natural. We apes are apparently hardwired for kinky fuckery.

But yes, transphobia is nothing new, unfortunately. You'd think with people realizing that all of their old prejudices and taboos are silly, absurd and ridiculous and unfounded, would have shaken them out of this stupid crap by now but nope.

It's not so much that naturalness is being challenges as it is that the artificiality of the gender binary is being exposed.

I meant 'natural' more in a 'what it's intended purpose is, evolutionary and therefore biologically'. In this sense I don't think apes would provide a very good example, haha. It seems as cognitive functioning increases, so does one's ability to find new uses for things for which they were never 'naturally' intended.

It's people clinging to the past as society and technology surge forward. People seem to have tendency to try and hold on to traditions and social aspects of their younger days, or that of which their parents taught them. A lot of people are scared of change, in other words, social evolution. Probably why religion is so comforting to some.

If you mean that society in general is surging forward I have to disagree, and I would point to the clinging to the past as evidence that it's not.

What are "the more advanced sections of the working class"? Does the ruling class have "advanced sections", or are you presenting the notion that they are uniformly monolithic in their sexual politics (hint: they're not)?

What is most disgusting about the article is the mention that if a male to female hadn't had her "male parts" removed there was fear that she will start raping all the females near her if in an "all female" enviornment!

I mean come on!

There are females who rapes female, male who rapes females, and every combinations therein, I fail to see how some transgender person will change that; even if they were in a "female only" space.

It's not like all transsexuals are sexual perverts!?!

What is wrong with these people?
