i just wish this test would've some kind of quality rating as well, i mean they give a cineastic love letter to maggie thatcher, "the iron lady", an A. really? a love letter to a woman whos politics ruined the lives of millions of women(and its also a shit movie too) gets an A rating? i cant wait for movie about angela merkel to get a A rating as well.

Well they say that the test really has no bearing on whether a film is actually good or not. Take films like "The Good The Bad and the Ugly" or "The Shawshank Redemption" for example, both films with essentially zero female presence period but both are excellent films.

This kind of ratings is always problematic. This one addresses just one issue: visibility
It’s true that the presence of men in some key areas is clearly exaggerated, but I am not sure that a ranking focused on the visibility of female protagonists will help much.

Look at Lara Croft, for example, with a female character for protagonist, but directed, written and watched predominantly by mails.
On the other side, every version of Pride and Prejudice tends to show male characters only talking to each other about females.

That being said, I believe that the greatest problem is that there are far more males producing directing and writing. And that’s what should be changed.
