Your mayor has been a racist, homophobic, rich-boy scumbag all along, yet you want him to resign over smoking crack? Seriously, fuck all of you. That his drug habits are the issue and not his being an uber-reactionary poor-hating anti-union corrupt douche speaks to how profoundly deserve him. You moralistic condo-dwelling liberals and suburban puritans are beneath contempt. I hope Mayor Ford mows you all down in a crack-and-booze-fueled hit-and-run rampage before plowing through harbour square park and flying into a watery Lake Ontario grave.

In all honesty I do think it's funny that the drug is "crack", it wouldn't be nearly as funny if he had been railing coke because that's not out of character with "rich-boy scumbags", at least not as far as popular culture and stereotypes are concerned.
He seems like a man of the people though, I wish there were pictures of, say, Rudy Giuliani wandering around south Bronx with a ratty hooded sweatshirt, a can of Miller Light and a crack pipe LOL

Surprisingly, this isn't the first time he's attributed some mistakes to 'drunken stupors'
Sure, I'll believe he isn't addicted to crack. What I won't believe is that he's not an alcoholic. And if you look at it, these alcohol problems go waay back. From the sounds of it, it was kind of a 'don't ask, don't tell' policy around city hall. It's genuinely surprising it took this long for him to make such a large blunder. T'was bound to happen eventually

I second this. If more mayors across the country spent their time smoking crack instead of smoking protesters, the world would be a much better place.

What are you talking about? Whitney Houston explicitly denied using crack! Because "crack is whack" and "I make too much money to ever smoke crack".

A lot of addicts on depressants (i.e. alcohol, benzodiazepines, etc.) seem to use methamphetamine, amphetamine, powder cocaine, crack cocaine, and other stimulants while on the depressants for some reason. As a matter of fact, some crack addicts only relapse once they're drunk, and some people initially try crack while inebriated.

My favorite was where he said "im not an addict, I dit it somewhere between [2 month time frame]" and I was dude, if you don't exactly remember when you did crack you have a serious problem dude. I smoked an "ploffie" (sigaret with a small bit of coke) once 14 years ago and I could still pin point it down to around the hour of the date and I was an unemployed crusty teenage squatter who did dope every other weekend and alcohol daily at the time, not the fucking mayor...

In this case, I agree with you because it was recent (speaking of the mayor). However, if it was some time ago, I don't think narrowing it down to months is that bad (speaking hypothetically).

The whole thing is pretty wild. I grew up a couple miles from the Ford household, have had friends etc in legal disputes with them, bought dope as teenager supplied by the Mayor's brother, got my first political activity in fighting the Nazis his sister was involved with, have walked around the factory he and his family own, went to high school a block from where he coached football, been by the house where he was smoking rock.
Very flashback & contemporary.

Ford's been out of it for a long time & I think pretty wasted through much of it.
Folks was thinking I was stupid when I said he'd be elected & wtf I was right.
It was a suburbs v urban centre vote. I could go into detail about that if people care or are curious. Toronto was amalgamated from 5 cities to 1 city just over 15 years ago.

From that facebook article:
Security guards remove a drunken and belligerent Ford from a Maple Leafs game. After being asked to be quiet, Ford yells, “You right-wing communist bastards,” and “Who the fuck do you think you are? Are you a fucking teacher? Do you want your little wife to go over to Iran and get raped and shot?”
Ford declares during a debate on a $1.5 million AIDs prevention program: “If you are not doing needles and you are not gay, you wouldn’t get AIDS probably. That’s the bottom line…. How are women getting it? Maybe they are sleeping with bisexual men.”
This is why Jacobins were a good thing.

Ford comments about Asians during a holiday shopping debate: “Those Oriental people work like dogs. They work their hearts out. They are workers non-stop. They sleep beside their machines. That’s why they’re successful in life. I went to Seoul, South Korea, I went to Taipei, Taiwan. I went to Tokyo, Japan. That’s why these people are so hard workers (sic). I’m telling you, the Oriental people, they’re slowly taking over.”
Ford offers to help an ill man “score” the powerful painkiller OxyContin in a taped phone conversation: “I’ll try, buddy, I’ll try. I don’t know this shit, but I’ll fucking try to find it. Why don’t you go on the street and score it? Fuck, you know, I don’t know any drug dealers at all.”
Ford flees into his house and calls 911 three times after a crew from CBC’s This Hour Has 22 Minutes including Mary Walsh in character as Marg Delahunty approaches him in his driveway. Multiple sources claim Ford verbally abuses the 911 dispatcher, yelling, “You … *****es! Don’t you f—king know? I’m Rob f—king Ford, the mayor of this city!” Ford’s wife, Renata, reportedly places another 911 call at 10:17 the same evening, this time in regard to a verbal altercation between herself and Ford.

You're talking to someone who only remember things since the Chretien era, so I actually had never heard of that before. I knew the Trudeau's split, but I didn't realize all the stuff Margaret did, like smuggling drugs in the PM's luggage.

I'm simply just not articulate enough to ever properly convey how funny this all is to me. I mean I know there are some underlying things going on that probably don't deserve to be made light of, but the fact that this buffoon has been the mayor of North America's 4th largest city, for years, is fucking awesome. Like seriously just when I thought this dude could not sink any lower, he decides to go in front of cameras and say that stuff, then unnecessarily exit the room, through the exit least convenient; he just like barged and pushed his way by the reporters.

This is actually a really amazing moment in bourgeois politics.
There's been a push from the Right here to get rid of Ford through undemocratic means. Very interesting how hard Right and some centrists are on the same page.
He's involved with a series of murders - part of what I think has kept him from being charged with minor offences (like DUIs)
I'm wondering now if he was one of the dudes calling me a faggot pussy from Daddy's car 20 years ago
