Uzi Cohen, a member of Ariel Sharons right-wing Likud party and a deputy in the Knesset, told Israeli public radio on Sunday there was widespread support in Israel for the idea of ethnic cleansing.
Cohen, who is also deputy mayor of the town of Raanana, said Palestinians should be given 20 years to leave voluntarily.
In case they dont leave, plans would have to be drawn up to expel them by force.

Switch the words from Palestinian to Jew and better believe there would be a hue and cry over it. Typical right wing bullshit.

There is a mistake here. Uzi Cohen is a member of the Likud and has proposed "putting" the palestinians in northen Jordania and southern Syria.
But he is not a member of the Knesset. He is a member of the Likud's "center" - they're party's council.

he also said, "In case they dont leave, plans would have to be drawn up to expel them by force.

Apparently, in the Israeli political climate of today, Ariel Sharon is considered a moderate.
Despite his violent attacks against the Palestinians over the past 3 years and his refusal to end the occupation under fair conditions, Sharon has said he believes in a Palestinian state(although only on 40% of the occupied territories). He also made a meaningless gesture by dismantling a few useless settlements. For this, he has been condemned by the ultra-religious settlers and I believe he is considered as almost a traitor by some hardcore zionists.
From what I can see, the far-right zionists have emerged to become a formidable force in Israeli politics. I hear that something like 45% of the Israeli people believe in ethnic cleansing(i.e. kicking the Palestians out off their land). This is what the ultra-zionists advocate. In my opinion, they are little better than nazis. Anyone who advocates expelling millions of people from their land is a racist and a fascist.

yeah the pro-zionist government they have in israel is messed up. like what do they want, the palestinians to leave their own home land? thats rediculous. the only way to have peace is to install an arab government but the jews should still have rights like everyone else.

like what do they want, the palestinians to leave their own home landTechnically the homelands for palestinians are Jordan and Egypt. Lets not forget the bulk of the pals have not lived in that area any longer than the bulk of the jews.
the only way to have peace is to install an arab governmentIt seems based on this statement that the claims that the arabs can only live in peace with non-arabs they get to be in charge is correct. That is a sad insult to the arab people throughout the world that I prefer to believe is simply untrue propaganda.

Apparently, in the Israeli political climate of today, Ariel Sharon is considered a moderate.
It's because of his words, not actions. If you look at what he does, you know he's against peace. But if you look at what he says, that's a whole different story. Every now and then he gives a big speech about dissmantling the "illegal holds' (the codename for settlements without the approval of the goverment) and a palestinian state (on 40% of the West Bank and Gaza, ofcourse). Then a big "dismantling festival" takes place, and the world media shows IDF soldiers fighting with settlers on evicting less than 10 holds, with less then 50 people on each hold. Then the settlers organize a big rally against "Sharon's submissive policy", the americans are happy, more settlements are built and the occupation continues.
That way Sharon can say one thing, and get credit for it in public opinion, but do a complete different thing and keep on serving the settlers and the capitalists.
the only way to have peace is to install an arab government but the jews should still have rights like everyone else.
I was thinking more in the direction of Jewish-Arab Communist partnership.
