"Marinaleda is run along the lines of a communist Utopia and boasts collectivised lands"
27% of Spaniards are out of work. Yet in one town everyone has a job (http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/27-of-spaniards-are-out-of-work-yet-in-one-town-everyone-has-a-job-8612920.html)

Socialism in One Country is invalid and anti-socialist!
Anarchism in One City? Yay!

But how long a state will tolerate that? :)

They should be smart about it, maybe get loans from Mondragon banks to legally purchase assets instead of expropriating it without compensation. Anyway, more power to 'em.

They also do something interesting with housing: you can live there, but you have to build your own house. In doing this, you're given all the materials needed and the help of professional architects.

This seems like a sign that Spain has revolutionary potential, but this town won't get too far i bet. But still, these people are trying at least, and it's a start.

Marinaleda has been like that since the end of the 70s, begining of the 80s.

I always thought it's part of Spanish state...
And it is, its mayor, Sanchez Gordillo, is also a member of the Andalusian Parlament.
Anyhow, if someone wants info on Marinaleda, Sanchez Gordillo, Diego Cañamero, the SOC-SAT (Union of Agrarian Workers - Union of Andalusian Workers), the PTE (Labout Party of Spain), and the jornaleros' (peasants without land) struggle from the death of Franco 'till today feel free to ask. I'm Andalusian by adoption :P (I've made most of my political work there).

Could you send me your quotes in English? I'm interested in them to see if I am learning Spanish sufficiently.
