Doesn't the very existence of this article indicate an awareness of the problem, and thus opens up avenues for it to be corrected?

Also, to what degree is this kind of thing applicable to climate studies? Because I can easily see denialists seizing upon articles like this to support their notion that AGW is trumped-up or at the very least over-stated in its effects.
