I have devised this poll sheerly for curiosities sake - to answer once and for all, who is the revleft all time favorite historical Marxist. My vote is Lenin.

Of that list, Marx is the only one I have any admiration for at all. Where Marx and Engels Marxists though? If the perquisite for being a Marxist is that you call yourself one - which seems reasonable to me - I'm not sure Marx or Engels ever did.

To quote a glorious thing (http://www.revleft.com/vb/do-you-wanna-t128391/index.html?t=128391) by RevLeft user Intelligitimate back in 2010:

Hoxhamaniacs eat their vitamins and reject revisionism, brother.

I am a real Albanian, Fight for Marxism-Leninism,
I am a real Albanian, fight for what's right, fight revisionism!
When the party's crashing down, and it hurts inside,
ya' gotta take a stand, it don't help to hide,
Well, you hurt Stalin, and you hurt my pride,
I gotta be a man; I can't let it slide,
I am a real Albanian, Fight for Marxism-Leninism,
I am a real Albanian, fight for what's right, fight revisionism!
I feel strong about right and wrong,
And I don't take revisionism for very long,
I got Lenin deep inside of me, and Stalin is the thing that keeps us free!

Anyone who interprets Marx's 'I am not a Marxist' statement in the sense of him rejecting Marxism or considering his politics somehow incompatible with Marxism, doesn't understand the historical context of the quote.

Um who is making that interpretation? Not too strong on the concept of irony I see.

Probably got lost in translation. I saw first whatever singularity, then you, bring up that quote (and it gets misused so much on here) that I figured I should post something. I wasn't trying to say that you specifically were saying that (although to be honest, I wasn't sure), but was more trying to clear the issue up , before it had the possibility to derail the thread.
