Howdy, Socialism, Marxism, Communism have aroused my interests for a long time, but I don't know that much about them. I would like to learn, and to meet other people who might share political views and values similar to my own.
Also, does anyone know if the Cleveland ISO is still active? I sent them an email two weeks ago but they never got back to me. And if you can recommend any organizations in the area, I'd greatly appreciate it!
And and and and... Whats up with Revolution Books? There's one not far from me I was thinking of checking out, but I've heard they have a negative reputation.

Greetings comrade! Glad to see another Midwestern Red is looking to get active. You may want to just email them again or see if there are other ones in the area (Cincinnati, Toledo, etc) to see if they have had contact with them. As far as Revolution Books go, I have never been to one, but I believe it is run by the RCP, which has an... odd history let's say. They may have a good selection of books so I don't know why you shouldn't check it out. Just don't bring up anything in regards to their Glorious Leader.

Welcome :)
If you have political questions, you can ask them in the Learning forum. That's why it's there after all!
If you have questions about your account, don't hesitate to send me a PM or ask here.
So, are you into the politics of the ISO? Or are you still "looking around" as it were? Given your questions, I suppose there isn't much of a left in your place? So, what attracted you revolutionary politics in the first place?

Still looking around, I just thought the ISO would be a good place to start and learn some basics, meet some people more like me if nothing else. Its mostly just Democrats around here.
I guess I just grew up questioning why there was so much universal disdain for Socialism. To me, It always sounded like a pretty good idea, and my history teachers never seemed to have an adequate explanation of why it should never be tried. Even at a young age I think I noticed there was a contradiction between what the Soviet Union, China and other "Communist States" were practicing and the definitions of Socialism and Communism provided in the text books.
Indeed, I'm just 10 miles to the east.
