Is anyone here familiar with the Worker's Party USA in Chicago? They are a Hoxhaist party whose founder Michael Thorburn died a few years ago. I always thought they looked like a good group. Are they still around? I see they and their paper have an internet presence, but not sure if they still are a functioning party or have boots on the ground?
Thanks

I think I heard of them from another thread but that being said I do not think they have any "boots on the ground" in the sense that they are able to actively launch campaigns. In addition, and on a slightly different note, I would not contact them so as long as you hold any sympathies for Democratic Socialism or Trotsky. If they are Hoxha oriented than those two concepts along will destroy your opportunities with them (assuming they do not have an educational period for new members).

Im in DSA, but Im not a democratic socialist or a trostskyist. I appreciate Trotsky prior to the break however. I am in DSA for practical, and not ideological, reasons.

I'm not inside of Chicago all that often but I'm always around and I haven't heard of them being active in the city. It is a very large place, though, and lots of different groups have members there even if only a couple. If you're interested in working with them or joining them you might want to email them to see if they have anything going on soon that you could check out.
