So recently I've REALLY gotten into this band called Sound Horizon. Sound Horizon is a japanese band that is heavily inspired by anime and video games, and whose every album is a rock opera with numerous characters and centering around fantasy and science fiction themes. They're also known for putting on these really elaborate concerts with costumes, special effects and narration.

This is a band that only could have come from Japan. They're basically the project headed by a single person (named Revo), who began releasing his music independently through the doujin circuit, and became enormously popular through word of mouth. Revo is the primary lyricist and composer and has also become one of the main vocalists in recent years. He also plays guitar, keys, accordion, and other instruments on his albums (along with various other musicians and vocalists).

The music style is extremely varied and progressive. It's not unusual for an album to have songs that range from j-pop, to folk, jazz, metal, and acoustic. Some songs (like this one (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AnkkH28QcJY)) even change genre within themselves.

All and all, fascinating and addictive stuff.
