I actually quit smoking using them and I feel soo much better all around. I get the urge every once in awhile but I don't want to actually smoke. The other day I went and lit up, just to see if I actually enjoyed it and nope - it was nasty and unsatisfying. I'm also saving a load of money. I'm a bit hooked on the e-cigarette now, but I'm not as hooked....now it's just a psychological fixation.
I definitely recommend it any of you are thinking about ways to quit smoking. I also recommend that you use one of the kits where you have to order the cartridge refills, because you can buy it in bulk and it makes you feel more invested in it.

i see many people use it, sadly i am not yet convinced that i want to quit... and i do not really trust those yet, i have heard that some cause problems(worse than actually smoking) especially the cheap ones!I am not really sure about them as of yet to be honest.
but good job on quitting ;)

I think they're pretty cool. Any time one of my smoker friends considers getting one I encourage them to do so.

I don't know, I guess it makes sense, but the thought of smoking ecigarette as opposed to real ones just doesn't seem like it would be as satisfying.

There is this strange thing going on among some leftist people that also want to ban e-smoking on basically (as I understand it) the same grounds as to ban normal smoking. I don't understand this. The Dutch SP argued for treating e-smoking as a medicine in European parliament. This effectively raises a big barrier to people who want to quit.
So, what is with this?

the ones you can refill with nicotine oil can also hold some other oil based product if you can get your hands on it, wink wink, nudge nudge ;)

I've heard NPR making noise about it on the radio the other day in the US. I just chalked it up to big tobacco pushing back against something that threatens their market share, though I think the tobacco companies are getting in on it now too. I also think the US govt, for it's part, wants to figure out how to tax it as well - therefore it needs to be classified as a drug or w/e so the govt. can profit. Once the regulation gets them off the internet, the whole "saving money" part will be a thing of the past. Already the e-cigarettes in retail stores cost about 5x as much.
As for what they are saying: There have been no major clinical trials about their safety, it may have second hand effects (I think that is a stretch), others are concerned that kids can buy them and that there is not really any regulation restricting the sale to minors.
edit: Yes I'm still smoke free. :)
