Hello. I've been browsing around the forums for a while but never introduced myself. I'm 18 years old and I live in Sweden. I have an interest in both marxism and anarchism, but I'm more of a marxist than anarchist. Not organised in anything yet since I don't really have time or energy (struggling with mostly OCD at the moment, which really sucks out most of my energy and ability to concentrate on things properly). The last two years I have celebrated May Day with the autonomous left.

I've always more or less been a leftist, but I became really politically interested about 3-4 years ago I think. It started out with learning about ideologies in school and for me, identifying them properly. By that time I started reading more about socialism than what I knew before. I started reading speeches by Fidel Castro and biographies about Che Guevara that we had at home, since my mom had been to Cuba in '89 (during the fall of the Berlin wall). I always had a fascination for anarchism too, but never really understood it until about a year back. I'm interested in the New Left and its culture and lifestyle during the 60's and 70's, the anarchist territories during the Spanish Civil War, the Baader-Meinhof group, the Sandinistas, the Zapatistas, the Black Panthers, the PFLP, among other things. I support most communist movements in general that aren't pure Stalinists or North Korea fans. To me, Stalinism and the North Korea praising is just counterproductive and slanders the name of communism. It has nothing to do with workers controlling the means of production. I'm a feminist and I'm opposed to homophobia and transphobia. I despise racism, fascism and nazism and would usually promote militant methods in the struggle against fascism. When it comes to stopping fascist demonstrations I think it's good to use a combination of mass demonstrations and militant action.

I look forward to browsing the forum a bit more, now you know more about me and my views on things (if somebody cares, haha) :)

Welcome :)

If you have political questions, you can ask them in the Learning forum. That's why it's there after all!

If you have questions about your account, don't hesitate to send me a PM or ask here.

What's the left like at your spot in Sweden?

Thank you comrades :)

What's the left like at your spot in Sweden?

I'm from Gothenburg, which is a traditionally working class-dominated city, so the left is quite strong here. At least compared to other cities in Sweden. But unfortunately many of the working class people instead support the social democrats or the right wing party (that calls itself ''the only worker party''...)

The left is divided though, and there is often a pie throwing mentality between groups (mostly between different trotskyist groups and the ML communist party) Although, all properly organised nazi groups have more or less been disbanded because of opposition from the militant leftist groups and the proud anti-fascist tradition in our city.
