Hello!
Am very excited to be a part of RevLeft. I serendipitously stumbled upon it while looking for an English version of The Great Soviet Encyclopedia, and am very glad that I did :)
You may not hear much from me as I tend to be very cautious when posting on forums- but then again, you never really know as some forums are easier to discuss on than others.
I think I've always been a leftist as I grew up in very liberal communities throughout the West Coast islands of Canada. I was luckily raised by an open minded father who wasn't concerned when I picked up books like the Communist Manifesto to compare it to other books like Mein Kampf. (Although, my Grandmother who went through an Austrian Concentration Camp during the war nearly beat me for it!) He was very good for letting my brothers and I choose our own political and religious paths without interference, and allowed us to discuss these different beliefs with him and his friends. These experiences led me to the conclusion that leftist beliefs were most suited to me and how I want to see society be.
I have a burning passion for History (Generally 17th century to current European history) , Linguistics, Psychology and Politics.
Thank you for your time and I look forward to getting more involved here!
Cheers,
-J
