Cuba Pays Tribute to Victims of US Terrorism
Havana, Oct 6 (Prensa Latina) Cuba pays tribute to victims of terrorism, in the 37th anniversary of the terrorist attack that caused the explosion of the commercial aircraft that carried 73 people, near the coast of Barbados.
The Day of Victims of State Terrorism was instated by the State Council and commemorated with a march at Colon Cemetery, Havana, where relatives of the more than three thousand Cubans killed by terrorist actions denounced the criminal war of the United States against Cuba.
On October 6th, 1976 an aircraft of Cubana de Aviacion exploded some minutes after its takeoff from Bridgetown, Barbados.
Cubans travelling aboard the aircraft, were mostly the youth fencing team that had won all the gold medals at the Central American and the Caribbean Championship held in Caracas.
Wilfredo Perez, son of the pilot that was commanding the aircraft, on behalf of all the victims, demanded United States for the extradition of Posada Carriles to Venezuela, where the law claims his presence to respond for this crime and others.
“CIA knew he was planning to attack the aircraft and it did not do anything to stop him”, he said.
The date of October 6 as of this year will mark the Day to Honor Victims of Terrorist Actions and the Cuban flag will be put at half mast in sign of mourning.
