hi comrades, afternoon. i am happy to meet you all!

I am living in the city of ankara. i am currently studying at the Gazi Üniversitesi, both philosophy and literature. i am politically active and i will do anything in my power to smash the turkish state. of course, recently, turkey was in the eye of western media as protesters were smashed by police. but this is not the whole story., Erdoğan's western-backed regime is committing crimes like this on a daily basis. this injustice is what got me into politics in my early teens. i was at first just anti-authority, and i would participate in anti police marches as early as age 14. At age 17 i found Marx and Engels and ever since i have been a Marxist.
i am also interested in anarchist authors. the 2 should work together on a common interest of the expropriation of the bourgoisie and the seizing of the state monopoly of power.

Şerefe, comrades! (which is a common phrase for -- to honour!)

Welcome :)

If you have political questions, you can ask them in the Learning forum. That's why it's there after all!

If you have questions about your account, don't hesitate to send me a PM or ask here.

What is the left scene like in Ankara?

Greetings Spacy, welcome to RevLeft.

There should be plenty to keep you interested here. There is even a Turkish section of the forum here: http://www.revleft.com/vb/turkce-f71/index.html - but it doesn't seem to be used much.

Interested in anarchism and Marxism, are you an ÖDP member by any chance?

Hey man :) I still have plenty to learn so this place looks perfect! I am currently doing Nietzsche at university for example :) I like learning other philosophies and then assessing them with a Marxist lens

What countries are most members from and is everyone active politically ?

I actually just finished reading Lukács' History and Class Consciousness which i thought was excellent

Most users here are usually from Europe or North America, we have a handful of users from other areas like Brazil, a few from East Asia and South Asia- I'm also including users who may be from those areas but are living in different countries.

Off the top my head we have a few users who are either living in Turkey or have lived there and have ties to it. We followed the protests that were sparked by the Gezi protest here too, you might see the users I'm referring to in here

As for being "politically active", that depends on your definition. A good portion of people here are here on the forums to get into contact with like-minded individuals and might not be active otherwise outside the forums. Some might be keyboard warriors, others might be in activism (protests, strikes, what ever) but not in a party, and some might be in a party or in some sort of political organization. Don't let that dissuade you from any participation here though, and don't let negative impressions you might get from some users here cloud your impression of what's going on in the real world.

Your English is pretty good btw!

Well, you can start a thread about that in politics so you can get your first post. Introduction isn't quite for this kind of stuff.
