I'm not sure if anyone has posted about this before, but this infuriates me to no end. The Nepalese government issued visas for workers allowing them to work in Qatar to help build the 2022 FIFA World Cup Stadium. A few weeks ago, there were reported to be around 70 work-related fatalities as well as unsanitary living quarters and malnourished, unpaid workers. See:

This isn't the first time this has happened in a rapidly developing southwest Asian nation; there were reports of forced labor in Dubai in the UAE just last year. To be quite frank, fuck these bourgeois capitalist pigs. Everyone heralds the architectural feats of the nations of the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Bahrain, not knowing that a majority of the buildings were constructed by underpaid or unpaid workers. Capitalism in the southwest Asian world is just as sickening as it is anywhere else.

There was a thread on here about a year ago showing the conditions that migrant workers live/work in inside the UAE. It had a 10-20 minute Vice documentary embedded in it. I tried finding it, but to no avail.

Personally, the southwestern Asian countries you mentioned are just as much hotbeds of exploitation and decadent capitalism as the US. Some leftists are afraid to criticize them since they are adherents of Islam, and no leftist wants to be interpreted as chauvinistic; however, it should not matter what religion or ideology they adhere to, they are still the owners, or better yet, the masters of production.

What made you think capitalism in Southwestern Asia wasn't as sickening as it is everywhere else?
