The fact that I just got a call from my boss's boss, who told me that the person I'm a support worker for, has decided to use some of his own money, as well as take advantage of some program offered by the Canadian government, to make donations to a savings account for each staff member, as a bonus. What? Best news ever, looks like I got to go get a savings account now, which I've been meaning to do for a while anyways. Sometimes this line of work can leave you feeling really unappreciated, but the moments like this more then make up for it. That was such a nice and unexpected thing for him to do.

I took the guy I work with to this dance tonight, put on by the local activity center for people with developmental disabilities. He tends to be really shy usually, but tonight he just hit it off with this one girl and they danced all night. Later, she came back with us to his house, to play cards and listen to music. It was probably the cutest thing I've ever seen. Its also a really big step for him in further developing interpersonal relationships.

I pwnd them on the following:

Types of property in Marxist Theory.
Elections in Cuba (and Cuba in general)
The Cultural revolution
The USSR and it's collapse
The white-washing of the word capitalism with democracy (via Chile)

That's all I really managed to get my foot in on. They just ignored my hand being up after a while.

Been considering trying this shit for quite a while now. Though, I'm not so sure.

Its a whoooole lot of fun. I'd suggest trying to get your hands on actual mdma though, whereas alot of people use the term mdma, to refer to ecstasy, despite the two being different drugs.

Quail
20th October 2013, 03:02
I thought ecstasy and mdma were interchangeable terms? I used to refer to ecstasy as "pills" because as a teenager I used to take pills and I didn't really know what was in them. I think they generally didn't contain a whole lot of mdma, but it was fun. It's definitely better to get mdma powder than shady pills though if you can.

Art Vandelay
20th October 2013, 03:09
Yeah that's the difference, at least where I'm from. Although some people use them interchangeably, its more precise to call mdma the powdered form you get, whereas ecstasy is usually a percentage of mdma, mixed with meth, or some other awful substance. I bet with half the ecstasy pills out on the streets, you wouldn't even test positive for mdma in your system. The only time I ever tried ecstasy, it turned out to be primarily cut with heroin (which I didn't know at the time). I vomited all over the place, but felt amazing.

Edit: wikipedia says I'm wrong, I guess that's just the distinction me and my friends drew growing up.

I really didn't think I'd be posting in this thread today, but I took the guy I work with to breakfast. We're sitting at our table and I'm kinda eavesdropping on these 4 old guys sitting near us. I was thinking the whole time how I wish I was that old and had nothing to do with my days other then go out to breakfast with my buddies, live off a pension and go home by 10am with the majority of my day over with. All of a sudden they get up to leave and one of them comes over to our table, pulls out two suckers, drops them on the table, says happy Halloween and winks at us. I almost burst out laughing cause it was so random. My first thought was dude its the 26th and were not trick or treaters. My second thought was wait, did he just happen to have these suckers he didn't want, or did he purposely leave the house with them, planning on giving them to two unsuspecting individuals as an early Halloween treat? Now I'm just sitting here thinking that whatever his reasoning, that guy is fucking awesome and just made my day with his odd generosity.

Going out for appetizers and beers with my almost 80 year old Grandpa. He's not exactly as sharp as he used to be, but the man was a Canadian MP for the liberal party when I was growing up and can still hold a solid political conversation. We pretty much just complained about Harper for an hour or so (and indirectly my step dad/his son in law, since he always votes conservative), riffed on various contemporary Canadian political issues and watched game 3 of the world series while eating nachos and drinking rickards red. Such a fun time.

Having a cute comrade flirt with me today. Truth be told I think it may have had more to do with my 'out of the closets and into the streets' button (since when he saw that, was when he began to be talkative with me, going out of his way to sit near me, give me a ride, stand outside with me while I smoked even though he didn't, and just being obviously flirty, etc) than anything to do with me, physically or personality wise, but he was still cute and it was nice, even if just in the sense of (non-deserved) flattery. I won't/wouldn't act on it, but it still made me happy, if only cause I don't normally get that type of attention, all that much.

Work did today. Got there and helped him finish making supper. He finally ate a healthy and balanced meal for once, which was awesome. Then we spent a few hours playing pool and air hockey, with me pretending to not be able to beat him in either game, which he seemed to enjoy alot. Then we went to this activity center for people with dd and we participated in a zumba class, which was both fun and hilarious. Last we went back to his place and I got about an hour or so at the end of work, where I got to sit and read some Trotsky. It was a pretty nice day. :)

I was supposed to hang out with a friend of mine tonight, but the plans kinda fell through; in all honesty, they fell through, cause I was doing what I'm best at, ie: alienating and isolating myself from anyone who shows any interest in being my friend. I don't know why I do it, but as usual I ended up texting my friend back late tonight saying 'oh sorry I didn't get back to you sooner (insert generic excuse here),' to get out of the plans. Its ridiculous that I'm 21 and on a saturday got invited to a pub and to a friends place and turned down both offers, to instead crush a 6 pack alone in my apartment. Anyways, the thing that made me happy was when I told my friend we should hang out soon, he said something along the lines of 'make it happen you lethargic bastard.' Which not only made me laugh, since it is so true, but also made me happy he called me out on it, since I deserve to be called out on the way I unnecessarily dodge social settings. This is a friend of mine, who has gone through their own mental health issues and knows about mine; in fact the only way we ever bonded, was over a 26 of whisky and a random 'pyho' type conversation one night. Before that night, I always felt like this person didn't like me (which is essentially my m.o.) and we were only 'friends' since we had mutual friends; to be honest I wasn't always sure how much I liked this person either. Anyways, it was awesome cause after he made that first comment, we exchanged a few more messages and he made the following comment:

'I hate to break it to you, but you ain't the mystery you think you are. We're similar dudes. I get ya.'

So simple, yet what I've needed to hear for the longest time. Its weird to me because I have so little in common with this person on most levels and yet we have so much in common at a deep personal level. Knowing that I may have someone in real life, who I can talk to about certain things (not that I'm going to toss my problems on him, I've made that mistake in the past and never will again), and who can relate and call me out on my shit, is really nice for a change.

Getting back into a routine. I totally fell off the deep end the past month, right around when winter started taking hold and started neglecting everything. I'm just finally getting back into all my routines again and it feels awesome. I don't understand how I can be 21 and still not know how to properly take care of myself, but routines help. Plus I shaved today for the first time in like a month and no longer look hideous with all that patchy facial hair and its also been 2 days since I've had a cigarette which would of seemed impossible a month ago. So there are a few small things putting me in a good mood today. :)

Forgotten cries
Ruined lives

Dead to me
Enduring rape
Sanity fades
Dissolve, decay

Lay to waste
End of days
Crushing brace
Empty veins

Drive into death
Rotting embrace
Rip out my veins
Disappear
Listen to us
Under the ground
Shift us to live
In despair

To let me breathe
Ravage the wasteland

We will
Find you

Drive into death
Rip out my veins
Rotting embrace
Disappear
Listen to us
Under the ground
Shift us to live
In despair

Actually, you should drink tepid/warm water when you're hungover. Although it feels nice the moment you drink it, your body has to exert more energy to normalise the temperature so you actually end up feeling worse.

One of the less 'radical' members put on the film last night, 'Four Horsemen', which basically points out all the flaws of modern capitalism but then advocates going back to the gold standard and Classical Liberalism. Afterwards during the discussion I made the case for socialism and everyone agreed with me. Not only did the film night go ahead successfully (apart from an issue setting up the projector) but I felt I convinced a few people that socialism is the way forward. Made me feel good like I'd actually achieved something and since I've been depressed recently it's a real breath of fresh air. :)

When a book you forgot about ordering shows up at your door. I finally have a copy of 'in defense of marxism' and I don't even remember when I would of purchased it, cause every time I've tried to find a used copy they are all really expensive. I don't even really care what I paid for it, to be honest, cause I've wanted to read this for a very long time.

'Bacon' Tempeh. Why have I never ate this before? I don't normally like faux meats all that much, but this is delicious.

The lack of snow on the ground :) It's wonderful that Spring is coming!
Where are you from? Here in Greece spring is awful for me only that incredibly annoying yello dust from the trees and allergies.I would be happy if just a little bit of snow fell here. But that's just me.
Btw playin LoL makes me happy(just kidding it is addicting and annoying I don't know why I keep playing).I think seeing cat pictures and gifs make me happy.

I wish tempeh wasn't so expensive because damn, tempeh is fucking delicious. A good hangover cure too...

I love the birds chirping. They're going strong right now and I'm relaxing to their tune.

The precious puppy I've been cuddling with all day. :) He's got to be the most adorable thing in the world. I just want to take him home with me and never put him down.

yesss. It's weird, but every once and awhile, they have 'serious' articles about dealing with life and shit. I've actually learned a lot from those.

mango, raspberries, honeysuckle, summer, meadows, yawning endless days, thunder storms, snow storms, small living spaces surrounded by low hanging green tree limbs during rain and sitting on a porch, winter sunsets while in the woods, early mornings, sleeping outside in bad weather and waking up to sunrises, quiet fog, snow- Autumn on the east coast, cemeteries at all times, reading, sleeping, good news, when things work out, watching dogs play, watching cats play, Bjork, The Knife
