Hows it going guys, I stumbled across this site a couple days ago during my ongoing inquiry about anarchy. I'm from WA state, US and am looking to learn more about anarchy, as well as other leftist forms of government. Until recently I was fairly right wing in my ideology, even voting for Romney in the last election (lol). I considered myself a libertarian but recently I've become pretty dissatisfied with my own, and most 'mainstream' political ideology. Anarchy in particular is interesting, but I still have a lot of learning to do. Its one of the most misunderstood group of ideologies out there IMO, so I've got some work cut out for me.
I'm also a journalism major with a minor in polisci, nd hope to one day be an embedded reporter somewhere abroad, or even better an independent film maker. Maybe a recap of Chiapas is in order haha. That being said, I'm looking forward to conversing with you guys and gals and hopefully learning a shitload, as it were.

What has made you drift away from the American Libertarian stream?

Hope you'll learn and stick around, don't be too turned off by some of the debates rooted in more historical matters.

It just started making less and less sense the more I learned about it. Sure it sounds good, more personal freedom, less government involvement, a 'watchman' state, etc, but at the same time it appears to advocate that private corporations are these fantastic organizations. Smaller government means that these mega-corporations which already run relatively unchecked will be able to destroy and conquer whatever they feel like with no realistic constraints on their power. At the same time, I'm certainly not an advocate of 'large' state government, they can similarly not be trusted to uphold our rights, nor should they, it's our responsibility as a people to determine our own government and uphold our own rights which seems to necessarily lend itself to grassroots, bottom up government which is absolutely adherent to, and composed of, the people. Modern right-libertarianism just seems like a different tendril of the same smokescreen that the traditional 'right' and 'left' use to hide the truth, that we have no say in our government, and that it's all bought and sold in the pockets of the ultra-rich.

That's more or less the catalyst for my interest in anarchy, proclaiming that the state need not exist for people to have good governance and be economically successful without social stratification. I am skeptical of communism though I will say, where as anarchy has worked before, I'm unaware of any place where communism has ever worked, perhaps I'm wrong though.

Have you heard of the good news of Robespierre-Marx-Gramsci-Luxemburg-Tito-Chavez thought with Anarchist Tolstoyan Hoxhaist Influences (http://www.revleft.com/vb/group.php?groupid=1166)?

Thats pretty cool you saw how stupid the libertarian ideology was. Now you can see what the real libertarian ideology is.

Welcome aboard. Prepare for totilitarianism being justified (yes, even by me).

Also, where from the US are you and what is the left scene like there (if any)?
