People have said that in an anarchistic or communistic society, there will be little technology whatsoever, meaning no computers, no cellphones, etc. Is this true, because I find this hard to believe.

This is bullshit. It will be the exact opposite.

Wait I am confused, are you saying that in an anarchistic or communistic society, technology will still be used and shall progress much better than that of a statist society?

Very likely, yes. Technology will reduce the amount of labor required. When technology does this in capitalist society, people lose jobs. But in a communist society (communism and anarchy are exactly the same) they will simply make peoples lives easier.

It sounds like you're listening to primitivists. They would argue something along those lines. We, however, would argue that technology would continue to develop.

Socialist society will emerge from capitalist society, 'temped with the birthmarks of the old society from whose womb it emerges'. If under capitalism workers are submitted to social division of labour and, therefore, technology serves only to capital, in communism, as free producers freely associated, technology will serve human needs and human development.
As stated above, said technologies will decrease the quantum of labour needed for our very existence. Few hours of labour per week only.
Free from the chains of capitalism, knowledge, science and technology will be able to evolve greatly, serving humanity rather than the market.
