That was an interesting list of political influences (Thomas Paine, Howard Zinn, Bobby Sands, the Arab Spring). I wasn't aware that some of the people behind the prison strike had their ear to the ground politically-speaking, but I guess I shouldn't be suprised, after all when you're in that position you have nothing but time unfortunately. And if you were struggling against an institution like the prison system you'd probably be interested in other people's experiences who were in similar circumstances.
