While I find it successful in its sarcastic approach to blaming the victim, I do find that it many will find it joking about a sensitive subject. What do you think?

Not that I think "trigger warnings" are the most useful thing in the world, but just in case anyone isn't ready for it, the link is an extremely grim "black humour" video about rape, including depictions of violence.
Yeah, that's . . . emotionally painful to watch. There's a pretty intense undercurrent of, "Fuck you, this has happened to me." They're either incredibly talented actors (possible), or this is coming from a place of some intense personal experience (plausible).
Uh . . . yeah.

Well however successful their sarcastic approach may be its a sensitive issue and it requires more seriousness. Pretty disturbing to watch that they can joke about it so easily even if they are actors. It does make people more aware of what's happening at least.

It's a very well done video it got the point across light heartedly with such a serious topic.

I think we are perhaps receiving this video improperly and are, as a result, not grasping true tone and point of the video. While yes, it's def black humor, it's def making light of incredibly serious and traumatic situations, I think the whole point of the video was to frame things in a sardonic way to demonstrate the absurdity of the reactionary and deplorable views, attitudes, behavior and actions of it's intended target. I personally use this sort of argumentation all the time and while the presentation of the argument may seem humorous, the point is, the subject is not a laughing manner and the humorous absurdity you're guffawing at or seeing as idiocy, is the problem. The intent by quasi-humorous presentation is to make the viewer, listener or target think and be critical of the view they were just defending or displaying. That's pretty much the point of being sardonic anyway. I also think this is entirely different than some ignorant ass rape joke and should be treated as such.
Edit: I also think it's interesting how we are treating humor/comedy here and the intellectual, political and social power thereof.

I think humour and satire can be a very powerful way of undermining rape culture. Just because it deals with a very serious subject matter doesn't mean satire is an ineffective means of discussing it. Rape culture is ridiculous and should be portrayed as such.

Cheers, added trigger warning just in case.

These are odd times to be living in..... we raise awareness about horrible things in such a satirical fashion that it almost seems to trivialize the subject and detract from the message. At the same time the dark humor certainly manages to garner the attention that the issue deserves and elicits a far stronger emotional response than any PSA ever could.
I have no fucking clue how to feel about this.

Humor can be a way of transfiguring painful circumstances, and not all humor has to be laughed at. Blaming women for their own sexual assaults is absurd and this video does a pretty good job at showing how absolutely absurd it is. It's a good way of cutting through all the bullshit and putting things into perspective.
Also, just because something is brought up humorously, doesn't mean an issue is being trivialized. I'm really tired of this humor = trivialization assertion. This video, in no way, trivialized the issue of victim blaming.

Call me fucked up, but to me dark humor is the funniest type of humor. Tragedy makes the best comedy in my opinion. If you use dark humor like this, it will totally make rape apoligists feel like idiots.

Okay I finally watched it - I think it was pretty good, if a bit difficult to watch at times. I think using comedy to draw attention to sensitive topics is okay, provided that it is done well and tastefully.

Great video, the bit about the police is especially true.

When that guy in the balaclava or whatever ran by and grabbed her, I gotta admit it kinda freaked me out. I thought the "infomercial/pharmaceutical ad" vibe of the satire was done well and was an effective juxtaposition against the increasingly fucked up imagery.
