A while ago the Revolutionary Internationalist Movement published a critique of Negri's Empire and after reading it I have to say that it seems like quite the top-notch work. I suppose this is generally to be expected considering the high quality of the theoretical work that they put out.
Anyway since I know that a fair bit of insurectionism is built on the conceptual framework within "empire" I thought that this could lead to some interesting discussion.

Uh . . . I don't know what "insurrectionist" writing you've been reading, but . . . no? On one hand, that the Italian/Nihilist/Individualist Anarchist current rejects Civil Society as a category is, well, duh. On the other, the Anglo-French/tiqqun/Invisible Committee/Institute For Experimental Freedom communist currents might seem to hold certain points in common at a surface reading (e.g. both grapple with biopower as a central concern), but their methodology and conclusions are in pretty stark contrast. This spelled out clearly here (http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x9axpz_et-la-guerre-est-a-peine-commencee_news).

That's a long article, do you mind saying what you thought was interesting or summarizing their basic argument or perspective?
o well this is ok I guess

but every second sentence Tiqqun writes explicitly refers to empire, despite criticism of negriism.
I mean, like framework does not necessarily beget like conclusion.

Yea this is generally what I was referring to, it seems that there is definitly an overlap.

Insurrectionists, those associated with communisation theory and others (including even Zizek) often borrow this idea of Empire, because it's a good idea, and change it, because it could be a lot better. I think this is the source of the confusion.
