I have finally joined in, thanks to my son who has been here for ages and made a lot of friends all over the globe. That is so nice. Who is he, you might ask. Well, in this forum he uses the name of Sentinel.
I live in Sweden, have been living here since 1979, when my former husband and I became blacklisted in Finland and decided to emigrate. Sweden in those days was still a very allowing and a kind of progressive country, so we settled down in Stockholm and continued our political activities here. Years passed by and the everyday life took the most of us, but since 2000 I somehow decided to get back and become a political animal again. We can put it this way: like a zebra you cannot get rid of your stripes. If you once have understood the laws of the capitalist system and how it accelerates and affects the life of working people, you just can't let it go on and on and on. You have to make a difference. Demonstrate, shout out!
I might not be very active in this forum, but I have made a commitment to give monthly a minor sum of money to Revleft. But – this might be a superb way for me to write in English.

Welcome to RevLeft! Its a cool community. I'm in the same organisation as your son although I did not get to meet him in his recent trip to the States.

Hey there! I'm pretty new to the community, as well. In a few years, my wife and I will be moving to Norway, so it's cool to see other Scandinavians on the board.

Awesome, that is awesome.

Haven't seen him around, I'm new here too. But as far as forums go, it's nothing new.

Such a nice country, and ouch. :(

Well welcome to RevLeft. This is my first post btw. I've been lurking for a few months and the community seems very nice and inviting. They accept people of all nationalities, colors, and creeds, so nobody is excluded.

This is now the second parent/child duo on revleft, which I think is pretty cool. Like your son, I'm also a member of the CWI and interestingly enough probably wouldn't be without his efforts. When I decided to join the organization I had an extremely hard time getting into contact with anyone, which I found incredibly frustrating. The Canadian section, unfortunately, is one of the smaller sections, although we are slowly growing and now have our website up, which makes contacting the section quite easy. When your son found out about my difficulties, I was mostly expecting him to point me in the direction of the contact address for the Canadian section, but instead (without asking) took it upon himself to personally contact the Canadian section and to put me in touch with them and see to it the process of me joining was in motion. It was really pretty unexpected and awesome of him. Anyways your son is a great guy and welcome to the forum!

Sorry I'm late with my reply. Do you know the term red listing? Its purpose is to try to save all kinds of threatened species, birds, even rhinos... Blacklisting has always had an opposite kind of purpose: to make the life of "threatening species", i.e. leftists, communists, socialists as difficult as possible.

Yeah, so far I followed, I just wondered if you were actually expelled from Finland or "just" had a file somewhere or what...

They basically were exluded from teaching jobs in the area they lived in, in a very blatantly obviously politically motivated way. As for being expelled from Finland to Sweden, I'm not sure if that would qualify as a punishment, more like a reward.. ;)

Remember that other mother who posted on here? I have a feeling Sentinel's mum will be both more interesting and intelligible. Welcome.
