There is an mass shooting happening at an high security administrative navy yard in washington DC.
Gunmen in army uniform opened fire.
Several dead, 1 shooter dead, still looking for two others, white guys.
If indeed multiple gunmen it is probably an terror attack, if (like often) turns out to be one shooter after al it could be just another worker with an bloom break down or something with both element like the army base shooting a few years ago.

one white and one black actually
Lanier described one as a white male wearing what appeared to be a khaki tan military uniform and a beret, and carrying a handgun. She said police also are looking for a black man, about 50, wearing an olive military-style uniform, and possessing a “long gun.”

That these are the machinations of the reptilian shadow government should be apparent to all.

It seems pretty high level and well coordinated - also it looks possible that one or two of them may get away. It's been over four hours since it started. Dunno...they seem to be keeping the media under control as opposed to the Boston thing where reporters were running wild and practically foaming at the mouth.

The Navy Yard shooting in Washington, D.C., has already spurned conspiracy theories, with radio host Alex Jones leading the way. In the hours after the attack, Jones speculated that the Navy Yard shooting may have been a false flag attack committed by government agents disguised as shooters in order to put into effect new policies restricting personal liberties. Jones promoted his Navy Yard shooting conspiracy theory on Twitter, writing, “Who will the Navy yard shooting be blamed on? Terrorist? Tea Partier? Leftist? Lone nut?” He elaborated more on his theory saying “when you have multiple shooters like this, it has patsy written all over it.” Reports are still hazy on the details of the Navy Yard shooting, but police have said one gunman has been killed and the search is on for two other possible suspects. There is no confirmation of whether multiple shooters were involved in the attack. Alex Jones has been known to spin conspiracy theories about large-scale attacks on American soil. In April he said the Boston Marathon bombing also had the markings of a false flag attack perpetrated by the US government. Jones said the true intention of the bombing was to expand the Transportation Security Administration’s reach to sporting events, though this never came to pass. Jones once posited a theory that the Department of Homeland Security was stockpiling weapons and ammunition to either overthrow the United States government or keep citizens from owning guns. He also accused the government of manipulating weather patterns to devastate Moore, Oklahoma, with tornadoes. Alex Jones’ Navy Yard shooting conspiracy theory has brought about strong reactions online. While many followers have tweeted in support of him, others called the allegations that the shooting was a false flag attack “disgusting” and accused Jones of being little more than a media hustler

CNN has been following the example of popular news sites in using oversized tabloidy headlines.
As for this particular case only thing of connection I heard with the identified deceased shooter was that he was a contractor of some sort. A roommate of his in Fort Worth Texas also claims that he had shown no sign of aggression before.

There still seems to be a lot of information in flux. First it said that there were two suspects, one with "medium" complexion and another dark, then one white and one black, then identifying the dead individual as this "Aaron Alexis" who is profiled in my last post as a former Navy serviceman working in an air-station in Ft. Worth. I guess part of the confusion might arise from one of the FBI photos circulating showing two pictures (http://media.wfaa.com/images/600*338/0916-aaron-alexis-larger.jpg)- it is the same person in the picture, the left one being slightly disorted as may often happen from drivers license photos.
A lot of news stations try to break the news first and report what ever they hear, this is even more pronounced with how fast info can go right now. For all we could know there could've only been this one perpetrator. This happened a lot with the Boston bombers too.

I've moved this to nonpolitical.
Although Politics has become something of a catch all forum for 'current events', I don't really think there is much that is particularly political about this story yet or the way this thread is structured. The discussion might or might not go in that direction but I've moved it to non-political. Let's try to at least nominally discuss politics rather than just current events that don't have a clear political implication in politics.
Maybe I've become too desensitized to these sorts of stories, but frankly they don't strike me as much more political than airplane crashes or ferry accidents or the sort. I mean all these are vaguely political, but I think the connection needs to be made explicitly.

I can only see this as our society breaking down, on a fundamental level.
It makes me think of George Carlin. I think he would have been excited to be alive at this moment.
I think we should be too. I can't wait to see what the next few years have in store for our society.

agreed, i'm not as optimistic either. one can always hope. personally i see them attempting to ride this tragedy till the wheels fall off. it will be a campaign point for some politician, used for proposing gun control, justification for spying on our own citizens... ect. a tragedy turned into political fodder. maybe it's a sign of the times. americans are getting burned out, disenfranchised and left without confidence in our institutions.

Lethal violence was much more common in, say, the 1960's than it is today.
Anyway, sounds from what TV news tells me that this guy was just another nut who snapped. The motives the vast majority of these shooters have are never particularly interesting from a traditional political perspective (except for the Nidal Hassans and Anders Breiviks out there I guess)

Sitting back the development seems to be going in a familiar direction- talking heads are going on whether or not the perpetrator had some pre-existing psychological problems, the favorite being some variation on paranoid schizophrenia based on some claims about his paranoia about the government shorting him somehow and hearing noises. This comes mostly from patrons of a restaurant he worked at (unpaid apparently, in return for shacking up with the owner) and some speculation on previous arrests.
It seems that with a few exceptions we've gone back more on shooters being people who have had some break with reality or snapped in some sense. I guess this is becoming more of the favorite explanation now, as opposed to before when people tried to attribute the blame to the shooter(s) playing violent video games, subscribing to an alternative lifestyle, social adjustment issues, etc.
That being said I feel that this fixation on mental illness, true as it may be in many cases when shooters are involved, will serve to only stigmatize and isolate people who need help even more. Despite the talk about trying to strengthen the mental health system, it all seems to be coming from a perspective that it's for the safety of the general public, not so much for the benefit of those who need it.
